Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am "Pro-Life", although there may be exceptions such as when the life of the mother is in danger.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The United States government and our military should continue to partner with other countries that have stable governments, helping to train their local security forces to monitor, detain, arrest, and jail suspected terrorists. In less stable places like Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia, the targeted capture of terrorist leaders can remove critical bomb-makers and logisticians, and force others into hiding. Recent counterterrorism efforts have proved to be successful. I am in favor of supporting our military leaders in their efforts to reduce the threats posed by radical islamic terrorism.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Our nation was founded to preserve God-given liberties. However, our nation's founding fathers also clearly understood man's basic problem. They openly and purposefully acknowledged the reality of human sinfulness. (Jer. 17:9) "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick." Our sinful human nature led them to put limits into place using three main branches of government - executive, legislative, judicial - each separate and distinct from one another.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. I believe in, and strive to follow, the principles and the word of God in the Bible. I believe in treating others as I would want to be treated - following the golden rule. I believe in kindness and respect for all others - "Love your neighbor as yourself". I believe in providing charity and assistance for all those in need. I believe that providing a hand up to others (through training and education) is much better than a hand out - because it preserves their human dignity and allows them to contribute as an important member of our community.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

In my role as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Retirement Corporation of America, I wrote numerous articles and newsletters regarding various economic and social matters. However, most of this information was delivered to clients and/or members of the financial industry.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I would be a strong advocate for continuing the shift in America from a sick-care system to a health care system. We need to do a better job of educating our population - especially our children - so they can master the basics of good nutrition and good exercise habits. I would also create a strong partnership between healthcare providers and leading technology companies. This could improve efficiency, lower costs, and allow medical professionals to better leverage their time and resources. I would also encourage the FDA and other regulators to significantly improve the speed at which safe new drugs and services are made available to the public. Finally, I would offer prize money to innovative health care entrepreneurs who could come up with viable solutions for some of our most challenging and expensive diseases. This could help our nation save money and improve the quality of life. It could also help us make healthcare more affordable and accessible.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Our government should focus on maintaining economic stability, and not get too involved in trying to boost the economy. It is also their role to maintain the stability of the currency, and enforce and defend property rights. During recessions, increased government spending is often required to provide income for the unemployed, as well as much needed healthcare and education assistance. This type of deficit spending can have a stabilizing effect on the economy. But too much government debt can quickly become a burden on our economy and weaken its foundations. Fiscal responsibility is an important part of maintaining stability. Sound macroeconomic policies can enhance the credibility of our government, encouraging American and global companies to make long-term investment decisions that allow the U.S. economy to flourish.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

Although the code was just revised, I would continue to focus on simplification, transparency and broadening the base. Reducing the layers and complexity of the tax code frees up resources that citizens can put to more productive use. Simplifying the tax code and streamlining the collection process would allow taxpayers to save this time and money, effectively giving them more disposable income. Economic growth can generate higher tax revenues and some of this money should be used to pay down our skyrocketing national debt.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

The only solution for unemployment is to create more new jobs. To encourage increased demand for goods and services the Federal Reserve can establish an expansive monetary policy. It's powerful, quick and effective. Lower interest rates make it easier for families to borrow what they need. That includes expensive items like cars, homes and other consumer products. It also stimulates enough demand to put the economy back on track. Low interest rates allow businesses to borrow for less. That gives them the capital to hire more workers to meet rising demand. If the recession is really bad, the government can cut taxes or increase spending to stimulate the economy. Expansionary fiscal policy is slower than monetary policy to get started. It takes time for Congress to agree on the next steps. But it can be very effective once executed because it provides much-needed confidence to the business community that the government will turn things around.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

The aging of the population and retirement of the baby boom population is already leading to persistent deficits in the Social Security program — approximately $75 billion of deficits in this year alone. Without action, the trust could eventually run out of money. I want to help Congress draft and implement a bipartisan solution to fix the program’s long-term finances. Some recommendations I propose are slowing the growth of initial benefits for higher earners, adjusting the retirement age for growing life expectancy, adopting a more accurate measure of inflation for cost-of-living adjustments, raising the payroll tax rate, and increasing the amount of income subject to the payroll tax. It is important to note that unless some type of changes are implemented, it may not be possible to guarantee benefits for future generations.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

While at Harvard University, I studied history, economics and a variety of other arts and sciences. I have been a Certified Financial Planner and Money Manager for over 30 years, helping hundreds of families manage their spending budgets, invest their financial resources and successfully replace their paycheck in retirement. I understand how to work with others in Congress to resolve the major financial issues facing our nation: Ongoing Budget Deficits, Skyrocketing National Debt, and the Underfunded Social Security Program. I am also an experienced entrepreneur who understands how to leverage technology, innovate work processes and generate new growth opportunities. I want to help Congress integrate artificial intelligence into our government systems and processes, our financial system and processes and our healthcare system and processes so we can continue to enjoy the current wave of prosperity that is sweeping over our nation.
