Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
The permissibility of abortion, like all medical procedures and treatments should be the realm of the State governments. That being said, personally I have a moral objection to abortion but will not infringe on anyone else with my views.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
In the end, nothing short of total elimination of the radicalized terrorists will accomplish this. Unfortunately this is something that just isn’t feasible without the expenditure of much blood and treasure.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
If angels were to govern men, no Constitution would be necessary. If men were angels, no limits would be necessary. The founders realized that power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I tend to lean more libertarian on many issues. I don’t think that the government should tell citizens how to live their lives.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The supply of health care services must be increased. That is the only way to reduce cost. More doctors, more nurse practitioners, more hospitals. Only by increasing supply can costs be reduced.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Nothing, other than getting out of the way, and ensuring that contracts are honored and enforced. Protecting the citizens from fraud is also a function of the government. The economy works best when it is not polluted by government.

What changes should be made to the tax code?
I favor the Fair Tax, a summary of which can be found at fairtax.org. Essentially, this plan replaces all taxes on income and capital with a single consumption tax with the goal of ensure that all consumer goods and services are taxed once, but only once. It is levied only at the point of retail sale, so business to business transactions are exempted. The goal of this plan is to drive out all of the embedded taxes of American produced goods and services so that they enter the global markets with no tax component in the price, which would cut the costs of domestically produced goods, on average, 20%.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Growing the economy and allowing business to hire at wages that make sense for the value of the work preformed. The minimum wage has been a huge albatross for younger prospective employees, particularly those from minority backgrounds. If the minimum wage was reduced, or even eliminated the market would set wages. Since supply and demand sets the price for all commodities, which includes labor, this would allow lower skilled workers to gain vital employment skills while providing a benefit to the employer. Wages would not be negatively affected, since businesses have to complete with each other for talent.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
There is no way, in its current form to sustain Social Security long term. It has become a gigantic Ponzi scheme. The promise made to current retirees and those about to retire must be honored, but younger Americans must be prepared for retirement without the program. I favor a slow ending of the program, with those on Social Security and those about to retire remaining on the program as it is, but allowing those who have yet to pay in to never start. Those in the middle, say between 25 and 45 will get everything they paid into the system back through tax credits. Anyone over 45, but not yet retired would get the option of recieving back what they paid in through tax credits or remaining on the program as currently exists.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have run a business. Simply put, government must stop spending more than it takes in. The current fiscal health of the county is completely unsustainable. As of now, the federal government is more than $21 Trillion in debt, and that is growing every minute. If we don’t stop this now and reverse course, within a few short years the United States will be forced into deep austerity based cuts.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Sometimes, a fresh perspective is a beneficial change. Congressman Visclosky has been in Washington for more than three decades, and what has changed for the better? Not much. The steel industry is on life support. Free trade is the way out of this mess, if there is a way to reduce the cost of American steel on the world market. Free trade is a wonderful thing, but only if neither side has their hand on the scale. In principle, I am deeply opposed to protectionist tariffs, but there comes a point where our industries have been harmed by barriers to entry in other countries. This doesn’t always take the most obvious paths. Regulation and taxes, similar to the Value Added Tax (VAT) are ways were American products enter foreign markets at disadvantages to other goods. Lastly, the federal government is doing things it was never intended to do. It must be shrunk back into the box that the men who wrote and ratified the Constitution intended, leaving all other duties to the States.
