QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Elective abortion should be allowed in situations when it is a medical certainty beyond a reasonable doubt that the unborn child will die during childbirth, and the child cannot survive outside the womb. It should be allowed in situations when it is a medical certainty beyond a reasonable doubt that the mother will die if she carries the unborn child to term.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

In stating that I strongly agree with this statement, I am not stating that I agree that chemical abortion drugs should be available for elective abortions.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Life is precious. We should strive to help those who are desperate to the point of considering suicide. For terminally ill patients, doctors should be able to provide reasonable and medically necessary care to allow the person to die as gently and comfortably as possible. I also support the care that hospice provides for such patients.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

The government should never be able to close a church and cause its dissolution. If people within a church commit crimes (such as child abuse or sexual exploitation), there are adequate laws in the Texas Penal Code to facilitate the offenders’ prosecution and imprisonment.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The Chinese Communist Party is seeking to destroy the United States of America by whatever means it can.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East and has a democratic government. Israel shares many of our core values when it comes to governing. For example, any Israeli citizen can serve in the Knesset regardless of that person’s faith.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

As a child, I was vaccinated for polio, TB, measles, etc. Polio has been practically eradicated because of reasonable, effective, well understood vaccines. Vaccines should never be mandated when they are new, unproven and have unknown side effects.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Further, the government should not have what is essentially a first lien on a person’s home. We need to eventually eliminate property taxes on people's homes. Alternative sources of revenue for School Districts and County and City governments must be developed. Schools MUST be properly funded & teachers must be well compensated. People should not be at risk of losing their homes because they can't pay ever increasing property taxes caused by inflation of their homes' value.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Minimum wage is not the same as a living wage. A person should be paid a living wage because he or she earns it. A high schooler sacking groceries for minimum wage is not expecting a living wage but is learning how to function in the work force.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

I am for legal Immigration. Most citizens in this country are either immigrants or descended of immigrants unless they are Native Americans. I am against disorderly, haphazard immigration. Our current President is deliberately allowing dangerous people into our county who hate us and seek to destroy us. We should allow immigrants into this country who share our values and love of freedom.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

Yet, we need to ensure that our children are being properly educated. In the work that I do, I have seen many instances where parents say they are homeschooling their children, but do not educate them and are causing their children to be woefully disadvantaged. I am not against homeschooling. The late Dr. Frank Vandiver, the 19th President of Texas A&M University, was home schooled and taught by private tutors and was considered a highly educated man. We simply need some safeguards.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

The media love to sensationalize the bad conduct of a few bad cops. Most police officers that I know are dedicated to serving their fellow man and are willing to put their lives at risk. Many of them exemplify what Jesus said in John 15:13, “ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Violent felons and the mentally ill should be restricted from having firearms. The right to keep and bear arms was important to the colonists who fought for independence. On April 19, 1775, the colonists in Lexington and Concord thought that the British were coming for the guns. On April 20, 1775, British Governor Dunmore ordered the public magazine in Williamsburg to be raided. These two events over two days united the North and the South in their resolve against the British.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is to provide for the common defense against enemies, to maintain social order and to protect individuals’ freedoms to extent that they do not encroach on other individuals’ freedoms.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

A man is a human being who has an X and Y chromosome in every one of the somatic cells (meaning not reproductive cells) in his body. A woman is a human being who has two XX chromosomes in every one of the somatic cells in her body. There are rare exceptions such as Klinefelter Syndrome or trisomy 21, for example, but no amount of surgery, drugs or groupthink can change the chromosomal composition of every cell in a person’s body.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

"The fundamental theory of liberty upon which all governments in this Union repose excludes any general power of the State to standardize its children by forcing them to accept instruction from public teachers only. The child is not the mere creature of the State; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right, coupled with the high duty, to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations." - Pierce v. Society of Sisters, 268 U.S. 510 (1925)

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

God created marriage as a picture and an example of His love for us and how we should love Him.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian, and believe that Jesus died for my sins “while I was yet a sinner” (Rom. 5:8) and that no good thing that I could ever do could justify me before God. Jesus is my only hope. The Apostle’s creed is a good summary of what I believe. I think that Christians can reasonably disagree on non-essential doctrines, but the essential truths about Jesus, his atoning sacrifice for us, our helplessness to save ourselves are immutable.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

One citizen, one vote. That says it all.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

If people in power encourage hatred and an increase in racism, it can can be a threat to domestic security.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

We are all imperfect human beings. That is true of the founders of this country. The preamble to the Constitution includes the words “in order to establish a more perfect union,” It does not say “in order to establish a perfect union.” That word “more” is a recognition that we often fall short. Yet, we should always strive to be better and to love our fellow man better.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

This question does not have enough options to respond with a simple letter. I strongly disagree with D. I somewhat agree with A depending on what the laws and regulations are that are being proposed. I think that reasonable environmental laws and regulations are worth the costs.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear energy that can be generated with non-weaponizable thorium salts. Such nuclear power plants can also be designed to be fail safe (i.e. practically melt-down free). In the near term, natural gas and oil are the most reliable energy sources.
