What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The founding fathers never meant separation of church and state as a war between God and the Government. The idea is to ensure that religious freedoms are protected by preventing the government from sponsoring religion. Besides, this concept is not in the constitution, and to the contrary, the first amendment restricts government interference with religion, not the other way around.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Socialized medicine is not the answer. I believe that the government should step out from between doctors and individuals so that Americans can take control of their healthcare decisions. One way of doing this is by taking all the tax breaks used to subsidize health insurance in the workplace and empower citizens to shop in an unfettered market for health care. Another way, is by a flexible health savings account, and not penalizing people who are transitioning from the group market to the individual market because of a pre-existing condition.

We are a country of immigrants, I myself was born in Cuba and immigrated to this great nation at the age of ten years old. I support immigration policies that put American citizens first. I currently hold a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Leadership and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am a Doctor of Management candidate at Wayland Baptist University.

The Constitution is clear about the individual's right to keep and bear arms. I believe this is a right many Texans hold dear to their hearts, and punishing law-abiding citizens is not a solution. Policymakers need to take all of the above approaches to ensure safety for all.

Advancing the past legislative session's efforts to alleviate the burden of the ever-increasing property taxes is a must. I will continue to support legislation that reins in on skyrocketing property taxes, strengthening public schools and giving the right for parents to choose the form of education for their children- such as public schools, private schools, and homeschooling. Border security and stopping drug and human trafficking is a critical issue that must also be addressed.
