OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life of the mother is at stake.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Defeat ISIS by denying them a safe territory, secure our borders by building a wall, extreme vetting of Muslim immigrants, and continue to work closely with our allies around the world to share intelligence and stop terror attacks before they happen.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders understood that power corrupts even the best people, so they devised a system of government to prevent any one individual or faction from gaining too much power and to protect the inalienable rights of the individual.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Catholic. My values were shaped by my time at St. Ignatius High School, whose motto “Men for Others” has defined my personal, professional, and charitable life.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My positions on the issues are available at www.gibbonsforohio.com.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need a health care system built on greater patient choice and provider transparency. Competition will lower costs. We need to return health care to the free enterprise system.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government doesn’t “boost the economy,” job-creating businesses do. Government should get out of the way, cut taxes, reduce regulations, and stop picking winners and losers in the economy.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

The Trump Tax Cuts were a very good start. We need to make the individual tax cuts permanent, expand tax cuts for job creating businesses, and look to lower rates across the board.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Unemployment goes down when new jobs are created. Businesses create jobs when taxes are low, regulations are reduced, and government lets entrepreneurs innovate and expand.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

We need to ensure that everyone gets what they’ve been promised, and I wouldn’t change anything for people over the age of 50. But for younger generations, we need to allow them more control over their savings and look into increasing the retirement age.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I graduated from business school and law school in addition to my undergraduate degree and have studied and taught economics. But nothing in my education is as important as what I’ve done in the real world. I started a business and built it into one of the most nationally-respected firms in our industry. I know how jobs are created, because I’ve done it.
