ABOUT YOU

I support using a party caucus to nominate my party's candidate for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, and I pledge to vote for my party's nominee.

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2014 Republican Primary, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My record as a member of the Board of Trustees, Alamo Heights ISD, including articles and news coverage concerning issues and matters; my actions as a member of the Board of Trustees of VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority; and the report of the Alamo Heights Task Force on Character Education, Wellness and Digital Citizenship, which I chaired.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

Now more than ever, background qualifications, common sense and maturity, experience, and demonstrated ability to get things done are essential for the office of State Representative District 121. Through my extensive experience as a business lawyer, I know and understand business and the importance of free market principles. I served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alamo Heights ISD for 12 years, including 3 terms as President. Through that experience, as well as my service on the Board of the Texas Association of School Boards and as a member of the statewide Special Committee on Revenue and Funding, I have been very involved with school finance. How we fund and provide education to all of our children will be prime issues in the Legislature and I am uniquely positioned to address both, as well as the closely aligned property tax situation. For the past 8 years, I have served on the Board of VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority, (continue in 36, below)

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

including as Vice-Chair the past two years. Transportation infrastructure is another issue requiring attention and my knowledge and experience in dealing with transportation infrastructure and system matters further enhances my qualifications. Of utmost importance, though, is my demonstrated accomplishments. I do not obstruct; I get things done. This is a vitally important qualification. Process and transparency are extremely important to me and, throughout my background experience, I have endeavored to listen, encourage dialogue, and promote transparency concerning issues and projects. I believe this vision is an important leadership qualification. I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment, a strong advocate for border security, and opposed to sanctuary cities. I also bring a significant healthcare background through my representation of hospitals and physicians. My proudest accomplishment, though, is my family.
