QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
I have advocated strongly for life at the Texas Legislature while serving as State Chaplain and as a member of the State Republican Executive Committee. Abortion is the taking of a life as also is euthanasia. We must do everything we can to protect unborn children as well as the elderly or terminally sick. We are created in God's image. When we devalue human life we start down the slope of devaluing all of our other constitutional rights.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
It is logically consistent for those who are pro-life to also conclude that human embryos created outside the womb should be protected. We must not head down the slippery slope of minimizing any form of human life in the name of convenience.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
None.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
I will work to do whatever possible to prevent government funds from being given to abortion providers. All money is fungible. Planned Parenthood's main focus is abortion on demand. Even if they were to say they would use the funds for non abortive services, government funds would only empower them to utilize other funds for abortion on demand. The government should never be involved in promoting abortion.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
In addition to inducing abortions of unborn children, abortion inducing drugs are dangerous to women. Many women are physically injured and emotionally scarred from their experience with these drugs.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise and the ability to own property has created the tremendous advancements in our country and lifted many out of poverty. Even the poorest of our country live better than many others around the world. Government overregulation only stagnates economic growth and often creates unintended consequences to fair competition.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Strongly Disagree
The government should not seek to redistribute wealth. Taxes should be kept low as possible for all Americans and the size of the federal government minimized.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
Out of control national debt and spending is one of the biggest threats to our national security and future economy. The current rate of government debt and spending is exponentially increasing to a point that is completely unsustainable. We must act with courage and not keep passing along this debt to future generations.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
1. Remove the government from propping up third party payers through Obama Care. It is bankrupting our nation, ruining American healthcare and driving up medical costs to prices that are completely not justified by the free market. 2. Reduce the size of every agency, foreign aid, and other federal projects. We must make cuts or everyone will suffer when our US bond rating drops again due to out of control debt. 3. Root out fraud in public assistance programs like we recently saw in Minnesota.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is a first amendment right. Our founders put it first because of their belief that all rights are given by God and not the government. Laws should not force people to violate their religious beliefs. I have served on many national boards in this arena and have a long history of protecting and promoting religious freedom in our nation.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
This is a phrase that is found nowhere in our constitution. Our constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion. The creation of a 'secular' zone where people can not express their religious beliefs is unconstitutional and is itself a setting up of a 'secular' religion. Our founders regularly expressed their own faith and our government buildings are full of references to God. Recent Supreme Court cases like Kennedy vs. Bremerton have re-affirmed these truths.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
My position would be between C and D. Our government isn't good at providing social services. However, because we have ventured into that realm for so long through Medicare and Medicaid we can't just abruptly cut these payments off. We should work to reduce the size of these programs over time and encourage an environment with our laws that help encourage private options for seniors or the poor rather than forcing them into a government single payer system.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
This would be a horrible idea. It is one of the many reasons a single payer government run system for healthcare is a very bad idea for all Americans.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. Israel is the primary democracy in the Middle East. They are a vital economic and military ally. The creation of the new Israeli state after WWII and its existence today helps prevent another holocaust.
Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.
Strongly Agree
Islamic terrorism is diametrically opposed to the core values of our nation. In addition, Sharia law should never be allowed anywhere in our country as it is a form of treason. We should not allow our value to be a melting pot to cause us to overlook the dangers from any worldview that is in opposition to the basic foundations of our constitutional rights. Anywhere and everywhere radical Islam has grown; simultaneously freedom has declined.
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Only people who go through a lawful process and demonstrate a clear adherence to our understanding of inalienable rights given by the God should be allowed to immigrate. Allowing people to come here and have babies who become instant citizens should be stopped. The borders should be closed and immigration law be made clear and fair. Releasing people for some vague future judicial hearing with no tracking who have tenuous asylum claims should also be stopped.
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
Thwarting federal immigration law by local municipalities should not be allowed or tolerated.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
The federal government should never have gotten involved in education. Education is best governed at the most local level possible. Parental choice and parental rights should promoted and protected by the federal government.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
I was highly involved over multiple legislative sessions in getting the law passed in the Texas legislature to ban the practice of transgender transition surgeries for kids.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is core to economic stability and growth of a nation. It also is critical to maintaining a growing population that upholds our core values as a nation. Only a men and a woman can engage in a sexual relationship that produces children naturally. One only needs to look to various European countries to see how national identity and core values are eroded when the family unit and marriages that producing and protect kids breaks down. Our birth rate must far exceed our immigration rates.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Bible believing Christian. I am a disciple of Jesus the Christ. I have served as a pastor and ministry leader all across America. I believe there is one God and He is the God defined in the Bible. I believe we are saved from sin through Jesus who was fully God come to Earth in human flesh. I believe God speaks and guides us still today through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. My relationship with God gives me boldness to resist all forms of corruption, coercion and any temptation to pursue self gain rather than the public good through public office. What I am in private I am in public. I highly value prayer and have led tens of thousands of people in prayer for our country. I value principle over political expediency.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
The right to vote is vital. We should do all we can to protect the integrity of our elections. One simple and basic way, among many other things, to do that is by requiring photo ID to vote.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
The notion that men can be women or women can be men is a mental illness. It is biologically impossible and an unhealthy delusion to promote. A truly compassionate response to anyone who deals with such gender confusion is to kindly tell them the truth; not to facilitate a biological delusion. Promoting policies that encourage men to enter women's bathrooms, locker rooms, shelters or women's prisons is dangerous and irresponsible.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Fossil fuels and nuclear power presently. Great gains are also being made in fusion energy that could revolutionize our ability to be energy independent as a country.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I have a long and proven history of fighting for conservative policy. I have done so under great pressure and with strong courage. It is important not to just believe the right things but, be willing to pay the price to fight for what you believe when political and societal pressure arises against your beliefs. I see so many politicians full of promises but, who lack the courage to act on what they say the believe when push comes to shove. I am the exact opposite of that.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I do not support restrictions on gun ownership. Gun ownership is guaranteed by the second amendment.
