In was man's sin nature that ultimately leads to the separation of powers. Man has an innate drive for power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely; therefore our constitution was brilliantly designed to spread the powers of government among multiple bodies for checks and balances. This is the surest way to protect against despotic leadership.
