Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only if the mother’s life is at stake.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
The United States military is the strongest, bravest, and most well-equipped fighting force in the world. The use of combat forces should be the last military option, not the first. ISIS and other foreign terrorist organizations seek to destroy American values and our way of life. ISIS should be handled in the swiftest, most sever manner possible in order to destroy their radical beliefs and practices.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Our Founding Fathers knew that the accumulation of powers – legislative, executive and judiciary – in the same hands was the very definition of tyranny. Our Founders believed that we are all fallen, and that the nature of mankind is sinful. And because those in authority have the same sinful nature as the rest of us, we cannot trust government with too much power.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord. I also believe that the Bible – both the Old Testament and the New Testament – reveal the will of God in all things necessary for our salvation. My values are based on my faith and my belief that the United States of America is the greatest force for good in the world. My values also guide me in the belief that life is a sacred gift from God and should be protected from conception to natural death.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Obamacare should be repealed and replaced by a market-oriented policies that put heath care decisions in the hands of patients and doctors, not federal bureaucrats. Our nation does need insurance reform but it can be accomplished in a way that addresses the problems with our health care system instead of exacerbating them the way that Obamacare does. In December 2017, Congress passed meaningful legislation to repeal the heart of Obamacare, the individual mandate. I will continue work with my colleagues for a true patient-centered health care reform bill.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The marketplace should be the driving force for the economy not the government. The government has a responsibly to keep consumers safe, remove barriers to entry for entrepreneurs to compete on a global scale, and reduce regulations for existing small business owners.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
As a member of Congress, I serve on the House Ways and Means Committee, the chief tax-writing committee which also has oversight over major policy areas such as tax policy. As one of the 24 original cosponsors of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts, I have worked to advance tax reform on behalf of my constituents. This legislation reduces the tax burden on the middle class by cutting taxes and bringing transparency, accountability, and cooperation to the tax policy process. I have listened to individuals, families, and small business owners in my district about how tax reform would affect their lives and businesses. Over the past year, I worked with my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to move this bill through the House and in late December 2017 President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law. Since signed into law, more than 100 businesses around the country — many in North Texas — are increasing investments and putting more money in the pockets of their employees.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Burdens placed on businesses of all sizes are resulting in fewer workers being employed, and those who are employed are often working fewer hours. Small businesses, the backbone of our economy, are often less able to cope with the burgeoning cost of new regulations. The cost of complying with regulatory burdens is a hidden tax paid by either the consumer through higher prices or workers who will earn less in wages. According to the Consumer Enterprise Institute, the cost of compliance with federal government regulations was nearing $2 trillion in 2016. Since entering office, President Trump has made regulatory reform and elimination a top priority.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
One of my top priorities is to preserve and strengthen our Social Security system for future generations. I support legislative measures to protect Social Security beneficiaries, encourage private pension savings for future beneficiaries through tax incentives, and over time raise the age at which benefits can be drawn while not affecting those at or close to retirement. Modernization of the program must not break the obligations to current retirees or to those near retirement. These measures are necessary to maintain integrity of and strengthen the foundation of the Social Security program. In addition, I favor means testing Social Security benefits for the wealthiest recipients.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
B.A. Southern Nazarene University Member of Congress, 2005 – Present Texas State Representative, Texas Legislature, 1987 – 2004 Mayor of Carrollton, City Councilmember, City of Carrollton, 1980 - 1984

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am running for Congress because I believe that government should be limited and accountable to the American people. I have a consistent record of fighting for lower taxes and the elimination of wasteful spending. My priorities in Congress are to: balance our the budget; secure our nation’s border and oppose amnesty; eliminate Obamacare and replace it with a patient-focused alternative; support our military and veterans; support free markets; promote energy independence; and give parents and local schools control over the education of our children – not Washington, DC.
