QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
As a Christian, I believe that life is a precious gift from God and must be protected. I believe life begins at conception and ends at natural death. In the cases of very limited circumstances, in cases of medical advice due to a pregnancy irregularity or risk, a decision should be made between the doctor and patient for the best medical care in order to protect life.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.
Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Strongly Agree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
A robust and growing economy is the best way to bring down unemployment. Reducing taxes and regulation is a proven method to spark the engines of our economy. A lean, nimble and responsive government is also important to attract and retain business investment in Texas.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
I believe in limited government. Reducing taxes, limiting regulation, and spending taxpayer money wisely is critical to boosting our economy.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
As with any market, the healthcare and health insurance market must have competition to keep costs in check and to encourage those in the industry to innovate for the future. No "one size fits all" plan or mandated coverage will bring the numbers of folks to the market that we need to drive insurance premiums lower. Furthermore, healthcare providers must have incentives for prevention, management, and early detection of disease. Free market initiatives, transparency of costs and innovation in our healthcare delivery model will be essential if we are to ever create a system that is adequate, affordable, and accessible for all.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Strongly Disagree
I support sanctuary cities.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.
Strongly Disagree
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."
Strongly Disagree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The history between the British Crown and British Colonies allowed our Founding Father's insight into the nature of government overreach and tyranny. The tyranny of the British Crown showed our Founding Fathers the need for individual freedom and knew that freedom is best protected when government is limited.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a Christian, I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and that He died on the cross for me. I can do all things through Him.

My campaign webpage is www.buckleyfortexas.com
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
As a practicing veterinarian, small business owner and rancher, I have experienced firsthand the difficulties associated with too much government regulation, taxes that are too high, and the many hurdles businesses are forced to clear to expand, create jobs, and hire more people. Additionally, I have served on the Killeen ISD Board of Trustees and have experienced the struggles our local officials face with unfunded mandates from state and federal government. I have also served my community on not-for-profit boards and witnessed the power of citizens coming together to solve problems and help each other without government intervention. These experiences will inform my decision-making process should I be fortunate enough to be elected to serve in the Texas House of Representatives.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a Christian, a family man, a veterinarian, a rancher, and a small business owner. My wife has worked in public education for 25 years and my mother, grandmother, and grandfather all taught school and retired as teachers. I believe in the power of the individual over the collective. I believe that when in doubt read the Constitution and empower people to be free to pursue their hopes and dreams.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support the death penalty.
Strongly Agree
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.
Strongly Disagree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
