QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

I believe that every life is precious and is ordained by God.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I don't believe that abortion should ever be allowed.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

I believe that each individual person is responsible for their own source of income and for the way that they support their family and themselves.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe that the government has a place in funding education, but that the individual school districts and colleges should apply that money to areas that need the funding. The government should not have any control of school districts or institutes of higher education.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that marriage is between one man and one woman. That is the only marriage ordained by God.

The Ten Commandments should not be displayed in public school buildings or court houses.

Strongly Disagree

This country was founded on religious freedom.

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Agree

Everyone has the right to speak about their beliefs and ideas as long as it is done respectfully.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Neutral

I believe that the military has it's place, but peace in a country should be achieved through people working together and respecting one another's beliefs.

EDUCATION

Every state should mandate K-12 standardized tests and the use of teaching software which aligns with Common Core standards.

Strongly Disagree

Common Core is illegal in Texas. Nothing in education should ever be aligned with Common Core and no materials from that curriculum should ever be in a classroom in Texas!!!!!!

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Agree

I do believe that parents should be the ultimate authority in a child's education. However, I believe that the majority of students should be in public schools and I believe that they can thrive in that educational setting.

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Agree

I believe that CSE and SEL are subjects that should be taught at home. Parents should be the primary educators of a child's learning and beliefs in these areas. However, if a parent chooses to have the students take part in these two courses, it should be an opt-in situation.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Disagree

I believe that students should be taught all of the facts that contributed to the foundation of American history. Our history is a combination of many facts and events.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that God created males and females at birth, and He doesn't make mistakes.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that God created the heavens and the earth and man and woman to be together. I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that He guides us each day through His Word. I believe that Jesus purchased our salvation when He died on the Cross and rose again and that, if we accept Him in our hearts, we will live in Heaven with Him for all eternity.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Agree

Parents should always be the first contact in any area of a child's life.

No

What books have had the most profound impact on your view of life?

The Bible. any book by Dr, David Jeremiah

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have been very honored to serve as the District 14 Representative on the State Board of Education. Having taught for 36 years in the public school system, I feel that I have the best interest of the students and teachers at heart. We have made some great strides at making sure that our students have the best education available. We still have more to do, and I would appreciate the opportunity to continue making our schools the best in the nation.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Agree

I feel that our students and teachers have the right to be protected and feel safe at school.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Do you support mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school?

No. I feel that this should be a parent choice.

I support mask mandates.

Disagree

Again, this should be a parent choice.
