Unalienable rights to life, liberty, & property were granted to us by God the Creator & that just governments secure these rights by the consent of the governed. Living under despots, they realized the inherent dangers of any government without restraints & controls. Hence our Constitution of negative rights saying what the gov't cannot do vice do.
