OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
Sen. Luther Strange supports President Donald Trump and the GOP's efforts on repeal and replace, while protecting the approximately 1.3 million Alabama residents on Medicaid - or about a quarter of the state's population. He called the House measure, a "good step in that direction" but added that he's working with his Senate colleagues "to make sure that the Senate version puts patients in the driver's seat and protects access to Medicaid for Alabama's most vulnerable."
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
“The Court has ratified our argument that the public policy of our state is to protect life, both born and unborn,” Strange stated. “It is a tremendous victory that the Alabama Supreme Court has affirmed the value of all life, including those of unborn children whose lives are among the most vulnerable of all.” The Court upheld the convictions of two women whose use of illegal drugs while they were pregnant caused their unborn children to suffer exposure to those drugs.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
May 15, 2017, Senator Luther Strange (R-Alabama) and David Perdue (R-Georgia) introduced the Securing the Border and Protecting Our Communities Act. Strange said, “The American people spoke out loud and clear last year in support of one of President Trump’s most important promises – to finish building the wall on our Southern border. This Legislation will restore the rule of law in Sanctuary Cities while helping fund the President’s promise.
The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.
Strongly Disagree
The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.
Strongly Agree
I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.
Strongly Disagree
I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

Strongly Agree
Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
May 4, 2017 - Continuing a commitment to upholding the U.S. Constitution, Alabama Senator Luther Strange today commended the President for issuing an executive order on protecting religious liberty. The order will provide regulatory relief for religious objectors to Obamacare’s preventive services mandate, and direct the IRS to exercise maximum discretion in enforcing the Johnson Amendment. Strange is a co-sponsor of S. 264, the Free Speech Fairness Act, which would eliminate the Johnson Amendment’s 63-year-old prohibition on political speech by tax-exempt religious organizations.
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Additional comment from candidate:
From day one, I have stood for the conservative values the people of Alabama hold dear. First as Attorney General and now as a United States Senator, I have fought every attempt by big-government politicians to impose their liberal ideas on Alabama families. And I'm just getting started.
