QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only Life of the Mother
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
As someone pursuing state office, I will tell you the most important thing for us to do is to secure our southern border and stop the completely uncontrolled flow of people and material into our country. I will be a fighter for securing our border OURSELVES and not asking D.C. for permission. Our federal government meanwhile must keep up the pressure on these terrorists using all financial, diplomatic, and military resources available.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) Elderly Texans have paid into Medicaid their entire lives and this obligation should be fulfilled. The federal government should consider opportunities to untangle younger generations from this program earnestly so they have more money in their pockets today and more options in their retirement years. Medicaid should restricted only to the most needy amongst us and should be minimum coverage. Additionally, it should be a true stop-gap measure to help lift them out of poverty—not keep them in it. Any able-bodied adult should be working for a living and paying for their own health care.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Additional dollars above our strict spending cap should be used to buy down Maintenance and Operation property taxes, which will lower the property tax burden on Texans by about half.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Texas is required constitutionally to have a balanced budget. I wholeheartedly support this fiscal responsibility. If necessary to balance a budget, I would support plan to reduce spending in line with what our state government pursued in 2020. Agencies and institutions (with some exemptions) were asked to submit a plan identifying savings and pursuing cost-cutting strategies. Doing so allows much needed flexibility for the various arms of our government in determining their specific functions which will be reduced while also largely spreading the spending cuts across the bulk of our government. Additionally, spending should only be focused on core functions of state government.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Non-criminals who follow legal immigration routes. Immigration policy should always be to the maximum benefit of the American people—period.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
Officers should be responsive to their training. If they are, they should be shielded from personal liability. If the training is insufficient or unreasonable, that is a departmental problem. We should work as a state to ensure our officers have the best training that protects liberties and lives while maintaining law and order.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Criminals do not follow gun laws. I worked to advance Constitutional Carry in the State of Texas and recognize that it is restrictions to our second amendment rights which are impediments to public safety.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To secure, preserve and protect the Liberty of its citizens. Government cannot give these things, but government was instituted to secure and protect them.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
https://texasgop.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/2020-Platform-Ready-for-Publication-10-23-2020.pdf In 2020, I was honored to chair the Platform Committee which works to set the official platform of the Republican Party of Texas. I'm so thankful to have engaged with so many amazing men and women to deliver such a strong and conservative platform.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I have been serving the Republican Party of Texas and the Bexar County Republican Party for over 30 years. My wife and I have been running our construction company, Dorazio Enterprises, for nearly 40 years. San Antonio is my home, and it is because of my life experience – I understand hard work and our conservative values—that makes me the best candidate for HD 122. If elected I will work hard every day representing this district and our conservative ideals. My legislative priorities are to secure the border, make illegal voting a felony again, property tax reform, and to keep unconstitutional overreach by D.C. out of Texas.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
The penalty for illegal voting was changed from a felony to a misdemeanor. If elected I will fight to make it a felony again.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. "Racism is not dead, but it is on life support — kept alive by politicians, race hustlers and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as “racists."" - Thomas Sowell
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
