OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Do you support the Plano “Equal Rights Ordinance” passed by the City in 2014 that gave special protections on the basis of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”?

No

Do you support the Plano Tomorrow plan and its focus on adding significantly more high-density housing?

No

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The more people live by Judeo-Christian values, the less government is needed.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Individuals should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on their "gender identity."

Strongly Disagree

It is inappropriate for a local government to recognize the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” and issue rules relating to an individual's beliefs about gender and sexuality.

Strongly Agree

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

There should be strict enforcement of federal and state laws prohibiting the distribution of obscene pornography, including over the Internet.

Strongly Agree

I support tolling existing highways that have been previously un-tolled.

Strongly Disagree

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

Strongly Disagree

Considering these issues (social, economic, education, transportation, water or sewer), which is the most critical to our city?

The overbuilding of high-density apartments is the most critical issue facing Plano today.

Please list up to six issues or projects that you feel need the most attention, in priority order.

(1) Keep Plano suburban by repealing the Plano Tomorrow Plan, with its focus on the overbuilding of high-density apartments, while focusing on land uses that are consistent with Plano’s suburban character and not overbuilding beyond what our school, road, and water infrastructure can bear. I am the only candidate for Place 2 who has been endorsed by PlanoFuture.org due to my commitment to stop the overbuilding of high-density apartments. (2) Decrease the property tax burden on Plano families by enacting the effective tax rate – a mechanism that lowers the tax rate commensurate to the increase in property valuations to avoid increasing the amount of taxes collected – for 2018. I am the only candidate for Place 2 to be endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a project of Empower Texans, for my commitment to fiscal responsibility. (3) Increase responsiveness to citizen input by holding referendums on the two pending referendum petitions that should have triggered referendums.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The fallen nature of mankind with its attendant temptation toward selfish ambition and hunger for power is what caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution. As James Madison wrote in Federalist No. 51: “If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary."

I own one or more firearms.

No

If you own a business, please describe.

As the proprietor of a solo law practice, I am a small business owner.

Did you contribute 10% or more of your gross income to charity last year?

Yes

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian, a sinner saved by God’s grace. I was separated from God by my sin, but in His great love Jesus Christ died the death I deserved so that I, and everyone else who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, could be saved and restored to relationship with Him.
