OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Do you support the Plano “Equal Rights Ordinance” passed by the City in 2014 that gave special protections on the basis of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”?

No Answer

Do you support the Plano Tomorrow plan and its focus on adding significantly more high-density housing?

No

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

The more people live by Judeo-Christian values, the less government is needed.

Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Disagree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Disagree

Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Individuals should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on their "gender identity."

Neutral

It is inappropriate for a local government to recognize the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” and issue rules relating to an individual's beliefs about gender and sexuality.

No Answer

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

There should be strict enforcement of federal and state laws prohibiting the distribution of obscene pornography, including over the Internet.

Strongly Agree

I support tolling existing highways that have been previously un-tolled.

Disagree

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

Disagree

Considering these issues (social, economic, education, transportation, water or sewer), which is the most critical to our city?

Economic

Please list up to six issues or projects that you feel need the most attention, in priority order.

Taxes, Infrastructure, Water, Education, Public Safety, and Revitalization.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Being created in the image of God and having the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness drove the design of the Constitution. Man's natural drive for power and control caused the founders to approach a centralized form government with caution and checks and balances.

I own one or more firearms.

Yes

If you own a business, please describe.

I am a partner of Bell & Valente Wealth Management.

Did you contribute 10% or more of your gross income to charity last year?

Yes

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I belive in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is three in one. I believe that all men are created in God's image and that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was to cover the sin of mankind and bridge the gap between a Holy God and sinful man.

Additional comment from candidate:

I have a strong history of approaching issues in a collaborative manner as well as asking tough, “unpopular” questions. Fortunately, I am the candidate that has been actively involved in the city for more than 10 years and represented the city at many Plano Legislative Days in Austin, thus I have the relationships necessary to collaborate on the complex issues facing Plano. I have no personal agendas so in every decision affecting Plano’s growth I would seek input and understanding. I would leverage my relationships with: the school board and administration to ensure that Plano’s school system can maintain excellence; the fire and safety departments to ensure that they are equipped; the business community to ensure responsible corporate citizenry; and city employees, County Commissioners and State elected officials to address transportation and water impacts. I would also want to ensure that concerns of surrounding neighborhoods are heard.
