15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
The roots of our republic start with the Declaration of Independence in 1776. America’s Founders set forth moral, political and legal principles that 11 years later would inspire the Framers to write the Constitution. They conceded ultimately that the role of the government’s just powers are derived from “consent of the Governed.” In other words, foundation of government rests in consent of the people’s transference of certain just powers to the government in order to protect their rights.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
Taxes/Economy: This issue is important because individual freedom is realized from the fruits of an individual's labor. I believe that individuals who are willing to work and risk ought to experience the rewards which may be forthcoming. We need an economy that is growing within the confines of the private sector and provides opportunity for growth and achievement. We must not have a tax structure which is punitive or oppressive and people deserve to keep what they earn. Education/School Choice: This issue is important because I believe in the rule of law and I believe in equal treatment under the law. At current our educational system is largely broken and only those who are financially well off can afford private tuition. Education needs to be placed in the hands of the parents where choice and competition is available. National Security/Immigration: The U.S. should have a secured national border and,the Federal Government is charged with securing the border.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
This all said, the only circumstances on the table for discussion, if any, regarding abortion should include if the life of the mother is in danger with a C-Section not being an option and in those cases which involve minors and incest.
18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
First, God our Creator from Whom all our liberties in life stems and originates; Second, Constitution; document by which we, as a people and as a Republic, are assured and guaranteed our liberties. Third Congress; Fourth, Supreme Court.
19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I know that in my human nature I am a sinner before God and that I am separated from a relationship with Him due to sin. But by His grace, by the fact that He offered redemption through His Son Jesus Christ. This is the keystone for my life and the plumb line with regards to my daily life. I believe this is the absolute foundation and truth of my salvation. I believe, Jesus, “gave Himself as a ransom for all men” (1 Tim. 2:6), and God “wants all men to be saved (1 Tim 2:4).” Therefore, it is because of His infinite goodness and justice, God sent His one and only Son to the cross to bear the full penalty of sin (John 3:16). As a result, Jesus Christ might freely and justly forgive all who come to Him. He who had no sin became sin for us, so that in Him we might become righteous with God. I believe that we are now saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8) and that believing in the Son of God leads to Eternal life.
