14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The ability to reason, debate and look ahead long term are unique to mankind, and fortunately our nation's founders included some of the greatest minds of that time. Jefferson, Franklin and both Adams' (John and Sam) were members of the group which framed our Declaration of Independence, and later Washington and many other giants of that time were involved in writing our Constitution as well as its initial amendments, the Bill of Rights.

15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

While serving in Congress, I plan to focus in three main areas — job creation, fundamental tax reform and balancing the budget. We need jobs in this country, as American citizens working is a critical part of how this country is run, but Washington must do away with the idea that it can create jobs. Small businesses are the backbone of our country, and they will be the sustainable job creators that will turn our economy around — we have to support our small businesses and let them. Overhauling the tax system is critical if we are to create an environment that develops and encourages small businesses to be started and to grow. The further into debt we go, the further from realizing the American Dream they will be. Washington must work with a balanced budget, just like every hard-working American family, and that begins with tackling rampant government spending.

16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I believe that life begins at conception and ends at natural death. Reducing or eliminating abortion can best be accomplished by education, alternatives and prayer. My wife and I support a faith-based adoption center and I encourage like-minded people to do the same.

17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

My apologies to the framers of this questionnaire, but I don't believe there is any way to answer this accurately, and I'm not going to be a party to creating a Top Ten list with such an apples and oranges list.

18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My Christian faith is very strong but I am also a strong supporter of religious freedom. Both my wife and I are very active in our Church and we believe the most effective way to show our faith is how we live our lives.
