Senator Daines believes human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection. Senator Daines asked the Supreme Court to reconsider Roe v. Wade. except to protect life of the mother and he wants to ban the pill that ends early pregnancies. “I support laws … [protecting] the unborn.” "We must fight for those that are unable to fight for themselves," Daines stated, "We will maintain funding for women's health care and redirect those funds towards community health clinics that provide comprehensive care instead of an organization that traffics human baby parts." No exceptions for rape nor incest, but no criminalization.  But does have an exception for the life of the mother.

Senator Daines does not believe it is the government's responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Senator Daines believes in free enterprise and has sponsored legislation that protects private property rights. Daines introduced a resolution forcefully condemning what he called the "failed experiment" of socialism on Monday, warning that the United States had "two paths to take" -- with one leading to "freedom," and the other, "complete government control, undermining our constitution and our American way of life.” Daines is for Permanent Tax Relief for Montana Small Businesses. Senator Daines does not believe it is the government's responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Senator Daines consistently fights for a balanced budget amendment every year in office, even suggesting that if Congress cannot balance the budget, they should not be paid.

Senator Daines is against Medicare for all. "After 5 failed years, the American people know ObamaCare is too badly tangled to fix. It is time to cut the line and tie on a new fly." Senator Daines does not support the elimination of private healthcare insurance. "I support full repeal of Obamacare." "First and foremost, I believe doctors and patients, not insurance companies or the government, should be in charge of health care decisions. Next, I believe we must always protect those with preexisting conditions. I believe Congress should provide people with greater freedom in shopping for health insurance, make the costs of medical care more transparent, and reward innovation in the delivery of health services. I will also back commonsense medical liability reform, because doctors currently must practice high-cost 'defensive medicine' to protect themselves against unwarranted lawsuits."

Senator Daines does not support the elimination of private healthcare insurance. "I believe Congress should provide people with greater freedom in shopping for health insurance, make the costs of medical care more transparent, and reward innovation in the delivery of health services."

"We see the threats of radical Islamic terrorism with ISIS in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram in Nigeria and the Houthis in Yemen. The United States must remain vigilant and work closely with our overseas allies to promote global security and eliminate these threats."

"Securing our southern border is a matter of national security. The increase in illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human smuggling is unacceptable. I will support whatever is necessary to secure our borders – including by building a border wall."

Daines supports defunding sanctuary cities. “It is infuriating that Senate Democrats blocked thoughtful and meaningful debate on legislation that goes after real criminals who are not only in the United States illegally, but continuously violate the laws of our nation or repeatedly reenter the country after being deported. Allowing a city to ignore federal immigration statutes while providing a safe haven for criminals who violate our nation’s laws is an egregious degradation of the rule of law. It is disappointing that bipartisan cooperation could not be reached on critical legislation that would help protect the safety and security of innocent Americans.”

"Increasing education opportunities in Montana isn’t going to happen through another federal mandate or a one-size-fits-all regulation. We need to empower our state, our local school boards, our teachers and parents to work together to develop solutions that best fit our kids’ unique needs." Senator Daines sponsored the A-Plus Act, under which "states would be allowed to obtain federal education funding in the form of block grants. States could choose to participate or they could continue to administer their education programs in the current manner."

Daines refused to support Montana's Non-Discrimination Act, stating "'I am particularly concerned that the exemptions provided within ENDA for churches, businesses, or religious organizations are insufficient and could force some employers or organizations to violate their moral or religious beliefs. Due to these concerns, I cannot support ENDA.'“ "Today, Senator Daines joined the majority of the Republican caucus in the Senate to block an amendment to the ongoing revision of No Child Left Behind that would have mandated that local school districts protect students from “discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity in public schools.” The proposal, which Senator Al Franken has been trying to pass for five years, would have extended already existing protections in place for students prohibiting discrimination based on sex, religion or race."

Senator Daines supports mandatory minimum sentencing for violent crimes.

"I strongly oppose any efforts from Washington to restrict our Second Amendment rights and our way of life in Montana, and I will work to ensure that Congress protects the Constitutional rights of the thousands of Montanans who safely and lawfully possess or use a firearm."

Senator Daines opposes the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and cosponsored the Combating BDS Act of 2017, a bill that aimed to fight discriminatory boycotts that target Israel.
