OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Life begins at conception.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Doctor's discretion to save the life of the mother if deemed more viable.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Cut spending, reduce the debt and balance the budget.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Taxation is theft. Lower taxes to a minimum and change to a flat tax to cover the constitutional limited government.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Business-owners have rights too! The right of one should not violate the right of another.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

Keep the government OUT of our churches as our Founding Fathers intended. Let's put God BACK in our government!

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Only under extremely rare circumstances should a PROVEN un-experimental vaccine ever be required. The requirement of a covid vaccine does not qualify. We should be free to decide our own health status and decisions.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

NOT A. NOT B. NOT D. So i guess C, We have to keep both of those for now and fully fund Medicare which is running out of money fast. I prefer to see an overhaul of our health care system that reduces the massive administrative costs associated with the current system, reduces the paperwork and documentation requirements that drive up costs, open up transparency in pricing for competition, eliminate 'certificates of need' which limit access and drive up costs, remove BIG PHARM from having such a powerful influence in our medical colleges, medical practices and decision making. As an Optometric Physician I see first hand the massive bureaucracy burden that drives up my costs to operate. This must stop. Personally I don't have health insurance, I have a Christian sharing plan that works great, keeps my cost lower and reduces my health care expenses. That needs to expand. Obamacare has raised health care premiums in West Virginia 300% since enacted. That is the government run health care system. If there is one area where I excel above my opponents is in health care, I understand the problems and know the solutions.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C. We are not the police of the world. We should assist our allies in defending themselves but focus on America first. America is the greatest nation of freedom in the world, we must defend ourselves so that we can defend others if the danger presents itself. Our national sovereignty is being threatened both domestically and abroad. It must be defended at all costs.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

I support Israel completely. ONE NATION just as God intended.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely agree and we must prepare to defend ourselves against them. They are preparing for war against us, so we must be prepared. We must begin by bringing manufacturing home to WV and America. We have for years outsourced our jobs and national security to China and other unfriendly countries. It is time to bring our manufacturing home, improve and strengthen our military. We must prepare for their cyber, EMPs, etc attacks.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Understand their goal. Every Muslim is a potential threat. They hate anything that is not Islam and their specific version of it. Even Muslims can't get along as the Shia and Sunni wars prove. Remove all Muslims from positions of importance.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Secure the border to stop the invasion of deadly drugs, disease, crime and terrorists.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Immigration laws protect our country and must be adhered to.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We should have a viable immigration policy that verifies who is entering and monitors them. For years our system has 'lost' immigrants who mostly are searching for the American dream and are not a threat. But in this day, that is no longer acceptable. Citizenship has benefits, being here illegally should not.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Choose not to answer

Not sure I understand the question. There are only two forms of gender, male and female. You are born the way God wanted you to be.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

America is NOT a racist country. We have some racial people, mostly liberal ones trying to stir up trouble. But America is integrated, our families are bi-racial, our children are bi-racial. We are not a racist country.....

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I serve the Lord Jesus Christ and strive to be more like Him. I believe in God's commands and laws, but know that I am a sinner. Thankful for the grace of the blood that washes away my sins. I believe America must repent in order to be restored to our Creator. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is our blueprint to restore our nation back to God's grace. Without repentance God will punish our nation. However, I believe that we will return to Him and that is my hope for running in this congressional race.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We need Voter ID with registration numbers that can not be duplicated and used by anyone but the voter. My solution is a Voter ID/State Drivers license that includes a Registration ID number including 16 digits of numbers and letters that identify the voter's state, congressional district, senate district and precinct. Plus each voter would have a PIN that only they would know. Together these along with the photo ID of the drivers license (or similar if not licensed) will eliminate fraud.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Eliminate the mail in ballot disasters. I would expand Election Day to a period of time to allow for those who can not vote in person to have an opportunity to vote. Require more over-sight at the local level. But with the Voter ID we won''t need many more laws, just compliance.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

We can't move forward by looking back.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

If we allow the Biden Democrats to keep making it a political tool to get their liberal agenda pushed down our throats. Better leadership will move our country forward not backward.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

I am unsure if the benefits outweigh the rewards. Fracking wells don't have a profitable life. Many lose their production within 1-2 years and have not been profitable. I prefer to DRILL for more viable sources of oil and natural gas. I DO SUPPORT DRILLING FOR OIL AND NATURAL GAS. Let's just make sure we don't violate property rights in the process for profit.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

I would have to say A. We need to protect our environment. But most of the laws are too restrictive. We need more common sense laws that provide reasonable protections and still allow the economic benefits of good paying jobs. We can't sacrifice EITHER ONE.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Visit my facebook page, Tom Roten Show on iHeart Radio, google

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

no

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

As your representative I will welcome your input on EVERY piece of legislation I vote on.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support our law enforcement.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

I do not support de-funding our police departments.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment is the most important amendment of all. It must be defended at all costs. The right to own and bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED. We must overturn all previous gun restrictions. The safest public is an armed public. Gun free zones must be abolished immediately.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
