The 2016 Green Party platform calls for redistribution of wealth on an international scale: "Therefore, an equitable distribution of wealth among nations is required to maintain a global steady-state economy."

From the 2016 Green Party platform: "We call for restoration of a federally funded entitlement program to support children, families, the unemployed, elderly and disabled, with no time limit on benefits. This program should be funded through the existing welfare budget, reductions in military spending and corporate subsidies, and a fair, progressive income tax."

Stein desires a ‘Medicare for All System’ to replace ObamaCare.

The 2016 Green party platform calls for cutting military spending by at least 50% and closing the 700+ foreign military bases. Stein is signatory of the Code Pink statement "Women Support the Iran Nuclear Deal."

"We do not think that the violation of human rights - and we see immigration rights essentially as human rights - we don't think that the violation of those rights, the building of a border wall, the targeting and deportation of families, splitting up families, and sending immigrants back to their home communities, we don’t think that's a solution here." Also, the 2016 Green Party platform supports amnesty for undocumented aliens: "The undocumented immigrants who are already residing and working in the United States, and their families, should be granted a legal status which includes the chance to become U.S. citizens. Persons should be excluded from this process only if they present a clear and present danger to other members of our society." Also the platform says "The Green Party calls for permanent border passes to all citizens of Mexico and Canada whose identity can be traced and verified."

"We call for, for example, a constitutional right to vote, which would make these voter ID laws obsolete and impossible. We would ensure that every voter has the right to vote..."; from the 2016 Green Party platform: "Enact a national 'right to vote' law or constitutional amendment to guarantee universal, automatic, permanent voter registration, along with fail-safe voting procedures, so that eligible voters whose names are not on the voter rolls or whose information is out-of-date can correct the rolls and vote on the same day."

Stein has proposed slashing the $4 billion annual military aid package to Israel, and would press for a peace deal with the Palestinians.

Stein supports the use of executive orders to enact policies that Congress fails to pass due to a lack of Green Party members in Congress. She supports the use of executive orders to break up big banks and to legalize marijuana.

"We certainly need an assault weapons ban, but we need more than that. There are some 260 people every day who are injured or killed by gun violence, so it's very important that we ban assault weapons, for starters, but there are other steps that need to be taken quickly. Local communities need to be able to regulate guns, as needed, to deal with their violence. So, we need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. We need background checks, so that the mentally ill are not possessing and using guns. And we need to end the gun show loopholes, as well, because there's far too much violence from guns, which is not needed."

From Stein's 2012 campaign: Jill Stein noted that she had declared her support for same-sex marriage in 2002, becoming the first gubernatorial candidate in her state (Massachusetts) to take such a position. Earlier this year, she had traveled to North Carolina to oppose a state ballot measure that would prohibit same-sex marriage.

"We need to be about freedom for everybody. We need to uphold the law of the land - everybody's freedom needs to be respected - if your freedom means dominating someone else, then you don't get it - businesses cannot discriminate based on gender or religion or lack thereof - businesses are public entities that exist in the public marketplace and need to respect the dignity and human rights of everyone, period."

Stein desires to replace Common Core with curriculum developed by educators, not corporations, with input from parents and communities.

"[C]harter schools are not better than public schools—and in many cases they are far worse. They cherry-pick their students so they can show better test scores. The treasure of our public schools system has been assaulted by the process of privatization."

Jill Stein tweeted on 6/27/16: "I applaud #SCOTUS decision to uphold a woman's right to access a safe abortion. A woman's right to choose is a non-negotiable human right." The U.S. Supreme Court ruling struck down Texas House Bill 2, which required that doctors who perform abortions have hospital admitting privileges at a facility within 30 miles of where an abortion is performed and that abortion facilities meet the same requirements as outpatient surgery centers.

Jill Stein tweeted on 5/20/16: "We’re seeing politicians use 'religious freedom' as a fig leaf for discrimination. We must resist their efforts to deny inclusive services."

Jill Stein supports legalization of marijuana in all 50 states.

Stein considers herself agnostic, although she was reared in a Reform Jewish household, attending Chicago's North Shore Congregation Israel.
