Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe in comprehensive reproductive health care for women including birth control and abortion options. This should be allowed when the woman, after consulting with her doctor and/or family, believes it is the best decision for her and her family. I am opposed to forced sterilization or forced abortion and believe that if women have support and options in their life they will usually choose to have a child. Most women do not want to have an abortion but the option should be left open to her free choice. Some women may feel this is the better choice for them because of their health, being in an abusive relationship, or because of economic hardship. We should try to relieve these barriers to motherhood for women.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

I believe the founders looked to other forms of government, saw what worked and did not work, and tried to develop something rationally that would balance power in our Constitution.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised Catholic and have a strong desire to help others through public service, that was influenced by my parochial education. I believe that we have an obligation of stewardship of nature and should work to protect the environment. I believe that people can do a lot of good work for others and their communities through their church, but that the church is not always necessary for this and that people should also do public service on their own. I support freedom of religion and freedom from religion. I have a strong ethics of non-violence and service to others which I practice in my politics and in my daily life.

Very Liberal

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I would describe my politics as progressive or radical, meaning to get to the "root" of the issue. I am interested in critical legal theory and social construction analysis. As a Green, we are progressive on issues in the sense that we have promoted changes like Gay marriage and LGBT rights and decriminalization of drugs long before it was popular, yet now we are moving towards consensus on those issues. I seek to find new solutions to our political problems that are not often talked about by the two corporate parties. I hope to represent ALL Ohioans in this race. I am very concerned about our freedom and oppose government intrusion into our daily lives; while I am not a huge fan of government, I believe if we are going to have one we should have a benevolent government which helps provide access to essential services like schools, roads, and health care.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

We have a historically low unemployment rate, yet workers are not receiving a living wage and many have to work two to three jobs to make ends meet. We need to stop giving money away in the form of tax abatements to large, out of State corporations that exploit our workers and our environment, and start investing in locally owned businesses.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I support the Medicare for All bill that is pending in the Ohio House of Reps. Greens generally support a single-payer system, believing that it will help stop the loss of health care dollars due to fraud, waste and abuse, resulting in a more efficient system to provide access to health care.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government should help local small and medium sized business owners thrive in our communities and can also provide public works programs for employment. Politicians should avoid sweetheart deals and corruption; as a Green I do not take corporate donations and really just want to represent the People of Ohio in this race. I am appalled that my opponents and other politicians have given contracts to their campaign donors. The business hookups and corruption needs to stop. I want a fair economy where regular people have the ability to compete and earn a fair livelihood. We should invest in the green energy industry and make Ohio a leader in green energy production.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have a law degree with an emphasis on International Law, Public Interest, and Criminal Law. I work with every day people and see how laws impact people in our daily lives. Because of my work with every day people and my background in law, I am well suited to represent the people of Ohio as Governor. I have a good leadership style that seeks to inspire and empower others. As a leader, I want all of my team members to be heard so that they are empowered to contribute to the team effort. I am fairly unbiased and in selecting people for appointments it would be based on experience and expertise, not political party or because I have received political favors from them. I can truly say that unlike the other candidates, I am virtually free of conflicts of interest, taking no donations from corporations, PACs, or special interests.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am truly honored to be representing the People of Ohio in this election for Governor, and I am ready to represent the People of this state. As someone who does not take corporate donations and is not a part of the two-party system, I am ready to represent ALL Ohioans. The Green Party plays an essential role in our democracy, giving the voters another choice and a voice in our democracy. We are an anti-corruption party. Ohioans are ready to be DONE with this system of political kickbacks and hookups, with the fraud, waste and abuse of our tax payer dollars, and are ready to move forward to a better life here in Ohio; a life where we have true freedom and liberty from government and corporate oppression, where we have choices in our lives and the ability to have a safe and healthy lifestyle. Although change does not come only from the one or two days a year that we vote, and we need to do important work in our community every day of the year, I humbly ask for your vote
