OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Neutral

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Disagree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.

Agree

The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Strongly Disagree

I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Neutral

The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.

Disagree

I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

No Answer

Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.

Strongly Disagree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Agree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Disagree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Neutral

The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.

Disagree

Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.

Disagree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with public funds.

Strongly Disagree

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

The United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies.

Neutral

Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the pregnant woman requests it, prior to the viability of the fetus, and based on health concerns after that time.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The tendency of elites to seek power and control and the tyranny of the majority.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I attend the Unitarian Church occasionally. I believe spirituality is essential as are our personal beliefs. We each have a responsibility to challenge and improve our own beliefs and not assume we know best for others. Nature is a source of inspiration and insight for me. The values of equality, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are the stated values of the United States and elected officials have a duty to uphold these values.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Liberal

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

I have not held office before, but I do not accept the categories given. These are defined by the media and, in my opinion, are propaganda intended to confuse people. For example, according to the media conservatives are opposed to conservation, while liberals are opposed to liberty. The conservative positions are essentially in favor of aristocracy, while the liberal positions are in favor of government control. Neither are consistent with the American values of equality, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I favor protecting the environment and populist political positions and am in agreement with Jill Stein on most issues.

Additional comment from candidate:

The challenge we face of adapting to climate change is unique in our history. Americans have exploited the environment, but now we must restore it. We need to heal social divisions and establish basic fairness in our society because we will need to make major changes in energy sources, the economy, agriculture, and our own lifestyles to meet this challenge. The establishment parties are captured by special interests and do not seem capable of meeting the challenge. Voters should choose the Green Party candidates to show that people, planet, and peace come before profits and special interest agendas.
