OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

No circumstances. While I acknowledge that, in order to pass legislation, exceptions may be needed, I believe life begins at conception, and should be protected no matter what.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I came to Washington because I was worried we would be the first generation to leave this country worse off for our kids. Fixing Social Security is a large part of that worry. It is imperative that we secure the current Social Security benefits for all Americans over the age of 55. Then we must take a look at solutions to secure it for future generations like raising the retirement age.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I am a proud sponsor of the Balanced Budget Amendment in the house, and I will continue to be a leader on the issue in the Senate. I have always said that Washington needs to stop acting like budgets do not apply to them. The federal government is far too big, and we need to eliminate career bureaucrats that create unnecessary regulation, at extreme cost to taxpayers.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

It is not the responsibility of taxpayers to bear the burden of student debt. I encourage young people to invest in their future by enrolling in community colleges, and technical colleges. The cost of college tuition is skyrocketing with exuberant campus fees, and cushy administrative salaries. We must address the cost of attendance problem to put a stop to the massive student loan debt in this county.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution was created to protect the Church from any state efforts to restrict freedom. My faith is the most important part of my life, and I am a staunch defender of religious liberties in the United States. I am proud to have been endorsed by Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council, and I will continue to be a defender of faith and family values.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

As the chair of the RSC Health Care task force, which the President has tasked with writing the Obamacare replacement, we have focused on protecting those with pre-existing conditions, and increasing innovation and consumerism, which will provide higher-quality care at a lower cost. Read our plan here: https://rsc-johnson.house.gov/news/press-releases/rsc-releases-health-care-plan

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Maintain a strong military, and work with our allies to defend bastions of democracy in the Middle East and around the world.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We must secure our southern border and stop drugs and violent crime from coming into our nation. I support President Trump’s efforts to build the wall, and secure our communities. Next, we must fix a broken system, particularly for ag workers. We should get the best talent in the world in our country, as well as the hardest workers. My record shows that I will work up, down and across the aisle to try to forge a deal that would pass and fix this decades-long problem.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I don't wear my faith on my shirt sleeve, but in my heart. I was raised in a Christian home, but it wasn't until I went to a Fellowship of Christian Athletes event in high school that I fully accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since then, I have committed myself to daily readings of the Bible, and leading my church community. My faith is a pillar of my life, and the life of my family, and it is our strength.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

- 98% voting record with President Donald Trump - 100% Voting record with National Right to Life (Endorsed by NRLC, as well) - A+ from the Susan B Anthony List - A+ from the NRA - Have voted 100% of the time to build the wall

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Laina for 36 years. Together we have four children and two grandchildren. Faith and community are two pillars that are vitally important to my family. I served seven years in the US Army reserves, and was a practicing OB/GYN delivering over 5,000 babies before entering politics in 2016. My wife and I taught Sunday School for over 25 years, and I have served as an elder and deacon in my community church. As a lifelong Kansan I am running to defend our strong Kansas values, and make the United States better for future generations.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

No Answer

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I have an A+ rating with the NRA. I fully support the Second Amendment. I drafted The Home Defense and Competitive Shooting Act that would eliminate the unconstitutional fingerprint requirements, end unnecessary bureaucratic regulations, and reduce the lengthy ATF processing time. I believe Americans exercising their God given rights promotes public safety, and I am strongly opposed to unconstitutional infringement of the second amendment.

iVoterGuide Notes:

Candidate received an A+ rating from the NRA Political Victory Fund KS in 2020. https://www.nrapvf.org/grades/kansas/

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Defend Kansas values by supporting pro-life legislation, and as an OB/GYN who has delivered over 5,000 babies, I have a unique platform to do that. Rebuild our economy by working with President Trump to pass trade deals that help Kansas Farms and Ranches. Secure our border and fix our broken immigration system. I support President Trump’s wall, and will work to fully fund border security measures.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Any act of racism is wrong, and violent acts of racism are certainly threats to those who are potential victims. I stand against racism in any form, and pray that our country can heal the racial and socioeconomic wounds that divide us. I was proud to support the first major criminal justice reform bill in a generation, and support President Trump’s executive order that will improve policing. I condemn the violent riots and Democrats' effort to defund the police.
