QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Life begins at conception. There are plenty of options available to avoid pregnancy. It is not a federal issue.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Choose not to answer
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When the life of the mother is in jeopardy.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
The attack on the family structure and authority needs to stop. No sex training or anti American indoctrinating in schools.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Any business (owner or individual) can deny services to anyone. We do not need an infringement on the economy. People can choose another business or follow other options.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The state cannot tell you what religion to follow or not follow. The state cannot even tell what political messages are given or not given regardless of tax exemptions.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C) - Read Timothy - take care of our own first.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
It is not our right to interfere in another countries' policies. We can encourage a certain policy, but not interfere. We should not allow full equality to the illegal immigrants coming across our borders either.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
China is the most serious threat to America. Terrorism is second.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
This is a hard one to answer. Our government has had too much restraint in the past. Except for the MOAB dropped on the head of a terrorist cave a few years ago. When we send our generals to do a task, we do not need to get in their way. Does Vietnam ring any bells?
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None. However, admission to a facility is the decision of the owner of the facility.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
B) - But lets be reasonable - preexisting conditions cannot deny a policy or increase the cost of the policy.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Disagree
America is the land of opportunity.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
There is too much government overreach. We need to reevaluate foreign aid and the support of non constitutional spending. If it is not in the constitution, it belongs to the states or to the people. Tenth Amendment.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Go to a flat or fair tax.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Absolutely. We have an invasion that must be stopped. Finish the border wall! Reset asylum seekers to embassies only (remain in Mexico). No more set foot on US soil and claim asylum.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
The Law is the Law. Enforce the law or forfeit funding.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those who follow the immigration process.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
This is a yes & no question. Yes if they perform as expected following the law. However, No if they violate citizens rights.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
A closer connection between these organizations is needed.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. In fact, hunter training in schools would provide for competent graduates in gun safety and knowledge. An armed community is more safe that an unarmed community. The communities with the most gun laws have the highest crime rates.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
It is not the firearm, the dealer or the manufacture who commits violence. It is the individual. It is like asking to sue car dealers or car manufactures for car violence. Or a hardware store for hammer violence.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I have an MBA, worked for the largest oil company in the world and own a Federal Firearms Business (FFL). I am business competent. I have a BSEE and am a commercial pilot. I am technically competent. I follow christian values, support the family attend church weekly (on security team) and am a minister. So I ma a man of my word.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
See my website for degrees earned, access to interviews and position on issues. www.davegilesforcongress.com
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No and No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I will be your representative working for you. I have a passion to server you, our state and our country. I am technically competent, business oriented and Christian based. I am not running for the money. I will donate my salary (except for what I need while in DC). I can devote 100% of my time to this position and I do not have any other obligations that I would be abandoning. I would term limit myself.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
This can fall under existing classes. We need to revise class to refer to all classes. Discrimination for any class is unwarranted.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
America is not racist and is the most inclusive country in the world.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am Christian and attend church weekly. I have multiple theological degrees and I am a minister. I follow christian values.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Photo ID needs to be instituted and proof of citizenship needs to be instituted as well. The constitution refers to "Citizens"!
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Eliminate early ballot voting and the respective drop boxes so that proof of citizenship, voter registration and photo id can be verified (Except for our military personnel away for their voting district and hospitalized voters).
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Slavery has been over for decades. It is over.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. Only threat is from racist people wanting to cause violence.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
This is a technical issue and remains an issue not specified in the constitution.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) America is the cleanest country in the world. Environmentalist need to focus on other countries polluting our air and water.
