OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression should be included as protected classes in existing non-discrimination laws.

Gambling should not be expanded in any way, nor should the tax or fee structure be made more favorable to the gaming industry.

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Election of judges by the people for a definite term of office is the best way to select judges.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.

Strongly Agree

There should be a strict constitutional spending limit for state and local governments that would tie the rate of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Strongly Agree

Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Free-market competition for education dollars, rather than a government monopoly, would create a better education for all students.

Strongly Agree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders had a keen understanding that mankind is flawed and needs protection from themselves and their own greed. They knew that if given the opportunity government would eventually become too big, wield too much power/control and would eventually become tyrannical. Limited power, checks and balances, and government closest to the people and by the people is the best form of government.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Pro life, with exception for the life of the mother.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I have a strong faith and belief in God, and He guides my life and sets my principles. I try to live my life with integrity, be a good person, and to work for Him in everything I do.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

As a new candidate for State office I don't have a public track or voting record, however as Vice Chair of Sarasota Memorial, our board proved to be one of the most fiscally responsible public hospitals in the state. As CEO of Mercedes Medical, a national medical distributor my family and I started over 20 years ago I believe the American dream is still alive and well in small businesses all over the country. We employ 70 people, are "dog friendly", treat our work family with respect, and donate well over $10,000 a year in donations and in medical supplies to local charities and mission trips every year. We supply two local Pregnancy Centers all their pregnancy test kits and supplies. These important clinics encourage women to consider options outside of abortion, like adoption.
