Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Election of judges by the people for a definite term of office is the best way to select judges.

Neutral

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Government should enforce laws designed to protect the border and to prevent illegal entry into the country.

Strongly Agree

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.

Strongly Agree

There should be a strict constitutional spending limit for state and local governments that would tie the rate of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Agree

Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Strongly Disagree

Free-market competition for education dollars, rather than a government monopoly, would create a better education for all students.

Strongly Agree

Where minor children are involved, divorce laws should be reformed to include mutual consent of both parents and an increased waiting period, unless there is fault or abuse.

Strongly Agree

The Ten Commandments should not be displayed in public school buildings.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Since the fall, man has been sinful in nature. Since power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, a separation of powers (and a limitation thereof) is the best way to provide checks and balances and to prevent abuse and tyranny.

Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life (not the health) of the mother is at stake.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born-again Christian and an ordained Baptist minister who has spent the last 30 years in prison ministry. I have also spent many years ministering to seniors, at-risk youth and the homeless. I believe that the Bible is God's Holy, inspired, infalliable and inerrant Word, and I try (albeit imperfectly) to live by its precepts through the power of the Holy Spirit every day. I am passionately pro-life, pro-family and pro-traditional values (including the biblical and historical definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman). My wife Deanna and I have been married for 31 years and counting, and God has blessed us with three adult children and three grandchildren.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Very Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

My campaign slogan is "Conservative to the Core" and my campaign's focus is Faith, Family and Freedom. I have written dozens of editorials that have been published in various newspapers, speaking out on conservative issues like abortion, same-sex marriage and traditional values. I have also written hundreds of campaign emails and posts that articulate my conservative positions.

Additional comment from candidate:

In my race, I am the only candidate who continually shares his faith and speaks out on social issues. To me, abortion is the #1 issue in this country, one that I equate to slavery in 1860 and civil rights in 1960. I see public service as a ministry and my heart's desire is to follow in the footsteps of the greatest servant-leader of all time, Jesus Christ. I view every issue through the lens of my personal faith and my guiding principles are based on the Bible and the U.S. Constitution. Finally, as a prison minister who has ministered in more than 400 different correctional institutions across North America and Africa, including many maximum-security institutions, I have the courage and backbone to stand up for my convictions as well as the empathy to minister to the less fortunate.
