What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Flaws in mans nature. The design to separate the powers within Government keeps this in check.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God and am a Christian. I believe in Jesus Christ and thank him everyday for his unwavering Grace, and the blessings he has so freely given to me. I believe in family. Core values: Integrity, compassion, honesty, leadership, service, friend, sense of humor.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have strong conservative principals, however I do always consider the issues and in some cases would be in a more moderate postion. I believe in having reasonable dialogue on important issues and being respectful when discussing the difficult ones.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Continue working to develop a strong economy. Removing barriers to the development of work opportunities( new businesses etc) Govt needs to reduce the unemployment benefits to encourage more to pursue the expanding employment opportunities in our country. There are many areas, primarily in the trades where there is a lack of employees. Employers are struggling to find people to fill positions.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Encourage more free market opportunities. We need to increase the availability for individuals to purchase insurance coverage. Allowing this will drive down the costs. We have seen the opposite with govt insurance, an increase in costs, decrease in services etc.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Get out of the way. Reduce regulatory burdens placed on business. Create a more favorable tax environment at all levels of government.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been serving in this office for the last 2 years. My experiencing in my community(local leader), my business experience(small business owner 15 years) and my education. I have combined these attributes to become a highly effective member of the House of Representatives.

andrew.barkis@electandrewbarkis.org,

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

It has been an honor to serve the citizens of the State of Washington as a State Representative for the last 2.5 years. I have quickly become the lead on the important issue of Affordable housing in our state. I have worked in a bi-partisan manner to pass many key pieces of legislation. In addition to housing, I have been a strong voice for small business.
