Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is limited and allowed by law. I support upholding current law. This is the most difficult personal decision a woman would ever have to make. Abortion should continue to be allowed and assured to be available where it can be medically safe. We should focus on reducing the need for this difficult decisions by encouraging private adoption with other policies.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We need to eradicate all terrorism.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The need for checks and balances.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe we need to transition to Healthcare Security, like social security, to achieve the ability of all Americans to receive care when they are in need. It should remove the greed and profiteering of the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies from the system, reduce costs, and be structured like social security with deductions from payroll and short-term capital gains. Healthcare is a human right. No one should ever have to choose between receiving healthcare or going broke. I will fight to enact a Healthcare Security for All single payer system incorporating CHIP, Medicare and Medicaid.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

government should regulate and mediate the economy, protecting citizens from harms. Although at a very macro look, it appears the economy may be doing well, over the last 25-35 years, costs of healthcare have been unsustainable, increasing from 7% of GDP to near 20% of GDP. If we peel the onion, our economy has been declining, not growing. We should be using policy to attract healthy manufacturing back to the USA.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

Due to the massive national debt, we should restore tax policies with greater number of brackets and high rates for the upper brackets. During the Eisenhower years, the highest marginal tax rate was 91%.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Reinvigorate manufacturing. I have clear transportation strategies to implement common sense solutions and equalize representation on both sides of the Columbia River and Implement rural broadband infrastructure. Both of these approaches will bring jobs to SW Washington.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Increase the amount of income subject to the premium contribution for this insurance. Social Security has been the best wage insurance program worldwide. I will fight to enhance Social Security, prevent privatization and increase the minimum wage. I will work to solve Housing Insecurity, bring reliable family wage 21st century industries and JOBS to SW Washington and protect our beautiful environment.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My experiences as an attorney, financial manager, and small business owner have prepared me to draft legislation, balance Congressional budgets, and fight for Main Street jobs. As a US Army veteran, I know what it means to serve our country. Putting People First means Solutions made in and for SW Washington. More than ever, we need a maverick with visionary leadership skills in fixing issues in our district, so our federal government helps only when needed. I have listened by hosting over 80 town halls in every corner of our district.
