What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

America's Founders understood that mankind's fallibility allows for tyrannical leaders sometimes to seize the power of the State. They designed a system of checks and balances and limited government powers to protect citizens' delegated authority from tyrants.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was born, raised and remain a practicing Roman Catholic. I have tried to raise my children in the Catholic Church, educating them about its teachings without forcing them to accept or reject faith--which I believe is a personal quality that can't be forced by others. I believe in the sanctity inherent in all humans, regardless of their choices or circumstances. I believe that all humans are flawed creatures, made in God's image. Life is a struggle to overcome our flaws and move toward our better nature.

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

I believe that the State can do a few things well, "to ensure domestic tranquility." When the State tries to do too much, it fails its citizens. In economics terms, the State should focus its attentions and efforts on "positive externalities"--good outcomes shared by all citizens. My work in the WA State Republican Party has been to focus on these good outcomes.
