QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Health care should be a right and it's denial should be criminal. We must fight the reactionary denial of abortion rights in Texas which is dangerously spreading throughout the country. This denial will cost women their lives by forcing unnecessary delays and little to no access to abortions. This is a health care issue and an issue about the equality of women and a person's basic right to determine what happens with their bodies.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Choose not to answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Health care should be a right and it's denial should be criminal. We must fight the reactionary denial of abortion rights in Texas which is dangerously spreading throughout the country. This denial will cost women their lives by forcing unnecessary delays and little to no access to abortions. This is a health care issue and an issue about the equality of women and a person's basic right to determine what happens with their bodies.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Agree

The tax burden should be turned upside down. Currently the burden falls on working people when it should fall on the 1% and less than 1%. The people who create the wealth of society, workers, are already exploited enough under capitalism.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Disagree

The priorities must be reversed. Spending on death is currently the priority. The endless imperialist wars that U.S. continues and encourages does nothing but kill and impoverish our country while increasing the tremendous wealth of the monopoly industrial and financial corporations dealing in war. That should be stopped immediately, allowing those funds to be used for what people need to live, like funding for covid relief, housing, and a minimum wage that counters the 8 percent inflation.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

It's been proven time and again that lowering corporate taxes does not promote economic health. The tax burden should be turned upside down. Currently the burden falls on working people when it should fall on the 1% and less than 1%. The people who create the wealth of society, workers, are already exploited enough under capitalism.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Neutral

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

Religion should not dictate the matters of State. Working and poor people and their organizations, representing those who create the wealth through their labor, should decide on the matters of State.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The denial of science-based health care should not be allowed. To not allow public places the protection necessary - based on the general worldwide recommendations of science and medicine - is to deny that essential healthcare to the public. Therefore anyone choosing to work or study in a public institution must be required to be vaccinated, especially when they interact with children or the elderly.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Option A. The for-profit health care system in the U.S. serves only the for-profit health care industry and pharmaceutical companies that facilitate death and hold all of us hostage with their prices based on the maximization of profits, not cost of production. We need to end the privatization of the pharmaceutical industry and immediately begin supplying the necessary medicine to those in need.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

Option D. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: the greatest purveyor of violence today - my own government. The biggest threat to humanity is not the "hostile" governments who are in fact targets of U.S. imperialism. The biggest threat to humanity is U.S. imperialist wars and proxy wars that promote a non-peaceful world, a worldwide refugee crisis, the growth of terrorism and are now responsible for the horrific prospects of World War III due to the reckless aims of the U.S. government to further expand NATO, which has nearly doubled in size in the last 20 years encircling and threatening Russia. The Warsaw pact disbanded in 1990, and instead of NATO following that unilateral disarming of the Soviets and their allies, it immediately began prosecuting war with the bombing of 10,000 homes in Yugoslavia, war against Iraq that killed 500,000 children and a proxy war in Syria and bombing and destruction of Libya, where slavery now exists. The U.S. assistance with Saudi Arabia is causing the starvation of millions of children from Yemen. This will only stop when we disarm the greatest threat to humanity - the Pentagon and U.S.-led NATO.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Agree

Across the world, more and more people recognize the similarities between the racist former system of Apartheid in South Africa with the Zionist government of Israel and are condemning the continued genocide against the people of Palestine - funded and encouraged by the U.S. government. Like the endless funding of wars that continue and intensify poverty here in the U.S., there is an endless flow of U.S. arms and dollars to the Israeli war machine of over $11-million-a-day in military, loans etc

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The biggest threat to humanity is not the "hostile" governments who are in fact targets of U.S. imperialism. The biggest threat to humanity is U.S. imperialist wars and proxy wars that promote a non-peaceful world, a worldwide refugee crisis, the growth of terrorism and are now responsible for the horrific prospects of World War III due to the reckless aims of the U.S. to further expand NATO, which has nearly doubled in size in the last 20 years encircling and threatening Russia & China.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Stop the endless wars like the war in Afghanistan that created terrorists which the U.S. also selectively works with in the war against Yemen, in Syria and the nazis it has been training and funding in the Ukraine.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Disagree

Immigration must be understood in the context of U.S. imperialist wars. The current worldwide refugee crisis is a direct result of the U.S. war on Iraq, Libya and Syria. Most of the migration from Mexico and Central and South America is due to both economic and military wars waged by the U.S. against these regions, forcing workers to come over the border risking life and faced with constant terror of being deported. Stopping U.S. wars and imperialist policies is key.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Immigration must be understood in the context of U.S. imperialist wars. The current worldwide refugee crisis is a direct result of the U.S. war on Iraq, Libya and Syria. Most of the migration from Mexico and Central and South America is due to both economic and military wars waged by the U.S. against these regions, forcing workers to come over the border risking life and faced with constant terror of being deported. Migrants in this country contribute to the vast wealth of this country without benefit of social security or pensions, yet they pay taxes. Any policy must first take this into account. And, instead of making the lives of migrants worse, perhaps reparations should be due for destroying countries. Any border control policies should be humane and more closely resemble the policies of those countries following humane policies as established by international norm.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Racism and sexism and gender oppression are the consistent tools used to weaken unity between working and poor peoples of various nationalities, ethnic backgrounds or sexual orientation or gender. The solutions to the problems we face depend on the building of unity and solidarity with each other's oppression by this system of capitalism. We have the power to demand no more global warming, end to poverty and war and jobs at a living wage, only if we remain united and target our common enemy.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Agree

Racism is the means by which the owners of the financial and industrial monopolies that run this country maintain their grip on the instruments of production that should be in public hands. By keeping working and poor people fighting each other by building nonsensical opposition to critical race theory - which is really just honest history - the ruling class is hoping it can extinguish solidarity with especially Black people in this country. In a country built on racism, solidarity is essential

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Until there is evidence denying the greatest method to understanding the world, I will continue to believe in science, because there is evidence justifying that belief. The decisions we make in creating our society should be based on truth and empathy and equality and justice for all. That is why it is vital that we understand how the methods of production determine the values and laws of society.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

The voting rights act has been targeted for the purpose of the further disenfrachisement of especially Black and Brown people. This attack must be stopped immediately.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Agree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of oppression, especially when that oppression denied a grouping their right to economic success, especially in regards to uncompensated labor. Using that criteria would make especially Black people effected still by the theft of land and relatives stolen, who provided the economic basis of the wealth still enjoyed by especially banks and industry in the U.S. due reparations.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Absolutely. Unity and solidarity cannot occur without justice.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Disagree

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

We have only one earth with one thin layer of atmosphere which, if either are damaged to the degree that continues, will extinguish human life on this planet. I'd say that protecting the environment and stopping global warming are, therefore, worth it.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Liberal

I am a socialist working toward abolishing this system of capitalism.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

My Party is called the Socialist Unity Party. You can find my articles and Party at strugglelalucha.org.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

It has become crystal clear that the institutions in this country, and those who support them and enable them, can no longer be trusted to provide even the most basic protections of life, and increasingly threaten the existence of others beyond its borders. It is therefore time to take a sober look at our world and the rapidly deteriorating effects this systemic incompetence is having on our communities, our workplaces and our families. The two-party system in the U.S. of Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same coin, funded by and serving the same corporate masters. Their politicians, in general, will continue to make decisions of war, climate change, growing economic impoverishment and racist and sexist state repression based on the sole motivation of maximizing profits for their masters - who have ultimate control over the use of those profits. It’s our work, day in and day out that make those profits possible, yet this system does not allow us any real say in the consistent decision to spend trillions on war and relative pennies on social necessities. This will only change when corporate and financial monopoly ownership of the industries of production and finance are transferred to the majority – to those who it oppresses and exploits. This campaign is about building a movement to make that systemic change possible.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

Police terror and murder are especially a threat to Black and Brown people. However, even at a lesser extent, they are also a threat to most workingclass and poor people in general. Communities especially targeted by racist killings by police must have the right to abolish the police and use resources given to them to create their own methods of security and safety.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Agree

Not only the funds, the departments should be abolished and replaced with institutions of safety and security developed by working people, especially those communities of color should have that right since they are victimized by police terror on a daily basis.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Gun violence has been normalized by the daily killing by police, especially against Black and Brown youth. We must create better systems for keeping guns out of the hands of those who's mental or moral capacity does not warrant the ownership of a gun, and that must include banning guns from cops.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
