Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None. I am a physicain and I have never seen an incident or know a physician who has seen an incident where the life of mom would be saved by an abortion. Generally, what is best for mom is what is best for baby and vice versa.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Liberty is in the nature of mankind. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is LIberty. Liberty is always under attack by large government. Our Founders knew that to limit government, it had to be separated into branches which would check the power of each other. Clearly these branches needed to be well defined.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe God is holy and that I am not. This necessitated Jesus, who is God and man, dying for my sins to make me holy like God so that relationship can be restored. I believe that God through the Bible and the Holy Spirit has spoken on most (not all) of the issues that face our society today. HIs words have been clear but our response is often tepid at best. God did create everything and it would be best if we would follow his advice.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I do have a record of votes I have taken and words spoken in support of conservative legislation during my service in the 84th Legislature. I cut property taxes and cut 3.8 Billion in property and franchise taxes. I hired and trained more State Troopers to defend against criminal illegal aliens. I passed the Pastor Protection Act which allowed church staff to refuse to perform any ceremony which violated a sincerely held religious belief. I was ranked as very conservative by Texas Values, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Right to Life. I was in the top 10% of conservative ranking by Rice University/Mark Jones. Proof of my conservative record is quite publicly available.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Small business is the the engine that drives economic growth. Small business does best when it has less regulations and bureaucratic red tape. Slashing red tape and lowering taxes allow small business to creat jobs and lower unemployment. I did both of these in my time in the State House.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I am a physician and I have quite a bit of insight into this . The problem is that there is no free market principles involved. Third party pay whether government or insurance gives no incentive to control cost on either the provider or the patient. The best system would have the first dollars come from the patient maybe through a health savings account and reserve the big catastrophic costs for insurance or government. Also, having the insurance or government pay the individual instead of the provider would cause the patient to shop around some for higher quality and lower price. The answer is not more government and insurance, the answer is the free market and it will work everywhere.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The economy is boosted by less government and not more. To quote Ronald Reagan "Government is not the solution to the problem, Government is the problem". The government can take from someone and give to others, and create the illusion of prosperity, but true boosting to the entire economy can only be found in the free market.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have the experience of being a State Representative before. I have the relationships built under the pressure of the State House. These relationships are very important as that is how things get accomplished in the State House. The conservatives representatives in the House want me back to work with them to lower taxes and regulations and promote freedom. I can "hit the ground running" as I know the system and the players. My education and experiance as a physician and surgeon is critical in that I am looked to as an expert on healthcare and life issues which are critical in the State House.
