RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Im 100 percent pro-life. However, I support a heartbeat bill. My understanding is the majority of citizens support this compromise. Any reduction in abortions is signifigant, and worth fighting for always. I will focus on prenatal care, protections for the mother, and resources. More specifically improving, and educating individuals on adoption. I believe incest, rape, and life of the mother should be considered in any legislation. My focus is to reduce abortions, and increase adoption. Also, access to contraceptives, and education on abstinence, and practice of safe, responsible sex.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
I understand individuals do not support tax dollars funding abortion. However, there will always be some need of abortion, especially in regard to life of the mother. Additionally, if rape, and incest will be exempted, resources will need to exist. I believe any institution that receives funds for abortive procedures, should be required to present every option, and all available resources, including private adoptions.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
I believe when one is at the end of life, making them comfortable is the most important. I am of the thought that many critical care units actually use drugs to suppress body functions, that may contribute to ones final breath. I've watched many people pass, including my mother. In each case these individuals were heavily medicated. The larger topic, and what the actual details of this very complicated, and emotional subject needs to be debated, in public, and politically.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I dislike the wage tax. I'm in favor of consumption taxes wherever reasonable. I have ideas to reduce property taxes, and that includes the elimination of school property taxes. I think the corporate tax needs
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I believe firstly, that we need to hold the line on govt spending and growth. I think at minimum the budget, and govt institutions in general should be reduced 5 percent to begin. I believe there is a lot of waste, and duplication. The state pension issue is a looming crisis that needs to be addressed, and corrected, letting tax payers off the hook, for guaranteed or defined benefits. I do not believe elected govt officials should receive a pension either. I'd thoroughly review, and research the budget, and find places where spending can be reduced.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Neutral
I support grants to community, and state colleges. However, govt funding is what has caused the spike in education costs. The student loan program is a disgrace, and dismal failure. Colleges need to be on the hook for these loans, as they benefit, specifically in the Private Universities. I believe a better k thru 10 education would allow for community college level courses, and education in grades 11, and 12. This can apply to trades as well.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
As long as a consumer is not prevented from receiving a service, or procedure, and alternative businesses exist for one to go elsewhere: I support the rights of the business owner. I respect ones personal, religious, and political views. I'm a big advocate for private property rights, and that extends to our business owners. I would never support policies that are strictly discriminatory, and would defer to the current legislation. I'm willing to hear the debates, if thoughtful, and truthful
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I could not possibly address this issue without context, and specific details. Again...I support the rights of private citizens, and their institutions. Obviously, if an organization is criminal, or creating a hazardous situation, like targeting individuals, or groups, in a violent way, I'd be open for the possibility of closure. This goes for any institution, not just churches. The standing legislation states that tax exempt churches should not participate in political issues, and I'll defer to the law, in that situation. That more likely would result in loss of tax statue, not closure, however.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I'd say B. I truly would like all to have access to healthcare. That has been provided basically through the system of health insurance. Many may not be able to afford health care. Therefore, I believe all individuals up to the age of 18 should be covered. If not by a private policy, then a public one. I think employers need to do more in this area, and remove the burden of funding by taxpayers, whenever possible. I think we need to establish, at minimum, a very inexpensive catastrophic plan. I will be looking into the possibility of a medical cost sharing program for the uninsured in my district. If nothing else, no one should be at risk of losing everything, for a medical event. My plan would hopefully be about 150 a month, with a 10000 dollar deductible. That's not to suggest 10g is not a lot of money, but a major hospital stay can easily exceed 100000 dollars, as we know. Currently even Medicare requires one to purchase additional coverage, which is private usually, and costly. Again, we need to find ways to reduce said premiums. There are many factors that drive the expense of healthcare, and each need to be addressed thoughtfully. There is a solution, and it lies in new ideas, many options, and a cohesive government, and private industry solution. We needed this decades ago, we need it more than ever now. Obviously preventative medicine, check up, and lifestyle changes are necessary. Education, and facts in the scope of health, are a priority.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I do not support any mandates regarding vaccinations. I'm certainly up to debate, and be open to adjusting my position, if a valid, scientific and proven argument can be made. Too much of the debate has become political, and therefore, a simple reply is not possible. This is a very serious, and divisive topic, that requires honest debate. The rule of law, as laid out in the constitution, should always be the basis of any debate, and or legislation.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
As a candidate for state office, im not sure this is in my perview. However, border security, is a major issue. Enforcement of existing laws, policing of any individuals in violation of the laws is vital. We, as people, as communities, and as a nation need to show our compassion toward all nations, and people. We need to challenge any groups that have ill intent. We must focus, through law enforcement, on any threats domestically, and work with our partners throughout the world to end such hatred. The best way to convince others to join one, rather than oppose, is by living and leading by example. We need to understand the threats that face us, and determine if any actions we express, create terrorist, rather than convert them. We need to also admit, some threats are not our fault, but simply a reality.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
Simply not a question for state rep, imo.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The result of an open border has proven very detrimental to our nation. Drugs, terrorists, law breakers, etc are pouring across unchecked. It promotes the smuggling of not only drugs, and fentynal specifically, but that of people. Many have died as a result of our policies, and porous border. Many are forced to now hide in the shadows, possibly breaking other laws, tax evasion, etc bc of said failures. I have some ideas regarding immigration reform, and border security.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I think we need to have a pause on immigration until we can secure our border, and address the many here now with non legal status. Once we have corrected our failures, I think individuals entering this nation should be a benefit to us. I want those coming here have job, and housing prospects, as well as sponsors. I think skilled workers, and those with specific skills in all areas should be a priority. I have no problem with refugees within reason, and proper vetting. Again, there is much to be discussed, and debated, but securing the border, and solving the current crisis of tens of millions in limbo, without legal status, should be the priority. This should have been put to rest at this point, and we would be considered more welcoming by the world. This is necessary in any soverign nation, but especially in a Republic.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
More specifically I support smaller classroom sizes. I support quality, relevant education. That should include life skills, history, current events, focus on the three Rs, and very early language education. Any and all options for a quality education standard, based on the needs, and specific attributes of each student must be considered. There is rarely a one size fits all solution to any issue, and certainly not this one.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
Our forefathers, and many before them relied on the ideals of this concept. They certainly were considered at our founding, and I believe enshrined in our founding documents.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
I do not believe in individual rights. I support EQUAL RIGHTS. If any individual or group is experiencing unfair or illegal treatment, there are laws to address that. Nor do I believe biological males should compete with biological females in sports. I think we have drifted too far from common sense, and truth, to form legitimate legislation based on wokeness, and ignorance of science.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
I believe we have accepted that same sex couples can marry. To me the debate is dead, and I support current legislation, and the status quo. The majority of society seems To have accepted this decision.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Although our past has many events that we was should not be proud of, we can be proud we continue to make strides in correcting our failures. We should never forget our past, or how we got where we are. It's fine to educate students about all aspects of our history. We must be accurate, and truthful. However, I do not believe our nation, or laws, and institutions are fundamentally racists. We have work to do, as we evolve to be our best selves, and we have proven we are up to the task.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'm considered a Christian Conservative. I respect everyone's beliefs, and am proud of my own. I believe Christ, if only even considered a MAN by many, set the bar, and the standard, all can accept, and live by. The Golden rule comes to mind. I value my relationship with Christ, and thus God, and I do my best to practice what he preached. It works for me, and has made my life better. To each his or her own, is my motto, but I always share my belief, and faith when asked, or necessary.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I don't believe the hype that people can not get ID. I think if we truly want election integrity, it's a common sense perspective. We all know ID is required to even use the library, or get govt assistance, or certain commodities like cigarettes, or alcohol. If there are obstacles to some getting ID, we need to address them NOW.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I think we should give up on the secret ballot. I think results should be verifiable in a public forum. I realize my position may seem extreme. However, each election the results are being questioned more and more. I foresee a near future where a peaceful transfer may not occur. We need to be confident our votes are being counted properly, and no fraud exists. Although the system won't be flawless, it's a step closer to securing our Democratic process. Mail in ballots, and drop box ballots, can easily be argued as corruptable votes, bc one can check ones votes b4 sending them off. So the concept of bribery, or intimidation is very possible, and maybe more likely. I want more people to be educated, and to vote, so I want any way possible to facilitate the process. As long as we can be confident in the results, I'll support any changes proven to achieve that end.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism exists still today sadly. I think this nation has come so far, yet politics, and agenda need race as an issue. The biggest threat is the exaggeration, lies, and attempts to divide the people. I believe the biggest threat is our media, censorship, and many elected officials. The people in general are more divided by class than race, and all suffer from bad policy, and dishonest debate.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
You can not buy forgiveness. You more likely will divide the nation more, rather than end the pain still felt by many from our past. I believe history proves when govt. Sets policy with race as the driving factor, it has a very opposite, and negative affect.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. Good policy balances environmental concerns, and the realities of what is necessary to do business. We must consider not only our impact in this nation, but the impact our restrictions have worldwide. We have developed many processes, and policies that has made us a much better steward of our planet and resources. There is always room for improvement. However, when our energy policies, or tax policies push business, and investment away, and encourage less clean process in other nations, we lose on both levels. We can certainly encourage conservation on both an individual, and corporate level. We should educate citizens how to reduce and recycle. We need to focus on what We are doing right, and not misrepresent the positives we have achieved. I'm a big advocate for safe, and sensible Fracking. However, I think we need to insist we in Pa benefit directly in added infrastructure, and cheaper natural gas. Finally, should improper or careless techniques impact our state I a damaging way the punishment should be severe. That would include, huge fines, prosecution when necessary, and the loss of ability to operate in our state.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
I think these companies should expand our natural gas infrastructure, especially in rural areas. I believe we should focus on natural gas conversion of our cars. That should create jobs, and reduce our dependence on oil. It can also benefit us in regard to home heating costs. I do support the impact fee, and believe these monies should remain in the local areas, not Harrisburg. Finally, many of our citizens are benefiting from natural gas exploration, and more could with smarter policy.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
I like limited govt. I believe infrastructure, police, fire, and yes even general education are in the perview or govt. I think we need to work more with the Private industry to determine what roles they can fulfill, and which the govt becomes a needed partner, or provider. Much of the areas in social policy are failure, and wasteful. We can not even perform the basic tasks most agree is the role of govt. I will redefine what the purpose of govt is, and limit govt where ever possible. I prefer local solutions to local issues. Lastly, the govt should ensure equal access, and equal opportunity.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I simply believe as a conservative, personal responsibility makes one a great citizen. If we each accept our role, and do basic things, like work, save, and be neighborly, we can excel. As a working class individual, I continually am asked to pay more, or do more for many who choose to do nothing. This needs to end. Freedom is neither free, nor forever. Should we continue down this road or rewarding failure, and demonizing success, we will all fail. We can not turn our back on those in need
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I simpmy would suggest voters Google my name, and visit my personal, and or campaign page on FB. One may be able to visit the WILKNEWSRADIO webpage, and find my interviews. I'm also debated 2x at the league of women voters. I was endorsed as a Republican, By the Times Tribune, my last candidacy for State Rep.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO! Moreover I work in federal, and state facilities, and have passed all relevant background clearances, very recently. This includes schools, and Tobyhanna Army Depot
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I will not be taking a per diem. I am giving back 15 percent of my income as seed money for local initiatives, like blight. I am hoping to establish a 24 hour office, that functions as a community center as well. I want to focus on mental health, and hope I can help establish a crisis intervention center in Scranton, at minimum. I will always be accisible, even at my home. I will push for elimination of pensions for elected officials. I'm working class. I do lawn care, carpentry labor, clean outs, and property reclamation. I was a mail carrier, worked for SSA, I have management experience, and supervisory experience. I have much experience in the small business field. I view the role as a STATE REP, as one who is present, accountable, and hands on in their district. That means I will work side by side, shovel in hand to achieve necessary goals. I am going to set the standard for elected officials, and public servants.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
The current climate is not positive regarding law enforcement. If one is acting within their capacity, in proper adherence to policy, we must defend them. That said...We have a lot of work ahead of us, in improving relations between the public, and law enforcement. I also think our officers should acquire a degree in law enforcement that includes consisiutional law, rights, community interaction, diffusing situations, mental health, physical training, and standards, etc. We must respect auth.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Neutral
We need to look at every budget, and determine where we can cut, and where we need more funding. Each entity is seperate, and to suggest taking funding from one, and giving to another, without knowing the needs, is irresponsible. I believe both need serious attention, and proper funding.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe in gun management. That means I support the 2nd amendment, and ones right to carry. I believe the need to encourage training, and understanding of which weapons suits the needs of the individual. Our issue is obviously a societal one, not a gun problem. I do believe we can have a law like requiring guns be secured, or trigger locks, but we can not enforce said laws, unless a crime occurs. So if a child finds a gun and shoots oneself, that puts the burden directly on the owner. However, it also allows them the freedom to take said risk, knowing the possible consequences. Therefore one may be More thoughtful, and open to such measures, and consider their choices more thoughtfully. Instead of simply demonizing guns, or restricting rights.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
I find this suggestion, and these lawsuits insulting to the intelligence of every american. This thought process is flawed, and without merit. It can and will be applied widely in all aspects of life. It ignores the role of the individual, and punishes the wrong entity, or individual. If a law is violated, then of course, I support prosecution.
