Rape; incest; to save mother's life
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The long history of oppressive monarchal/authoritarian systems of government or ones that disregarded individual rights, and the concept that rights are given by a Creator, not granted by man.

Refer to my voting record available at iga.in.gov.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Education. It is currently a labor market with incredibly low unemployment (in my district), but education, along with personal responsibility, are necessary tools for people to enter and be successful in the workforce.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Open up markets across state lines to create competition. Businesses can also enter pools cutting out the insurance companies to drive down costs for employees. Individuals must also have "skin in the game" making them more conscientious and aware of how to manage their health care.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Create an environment conducive for economic growth. Some incentives to entice business to locate in a particular area may be alright, so long as it is done responsibly and in situations where only "but for" an incentive being extended that any particular business would come. Overall, however, government needs to stay away from picking winners and losers in the free market.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a practicing attorney that is involved in representing school boards, planning and zoning and BZA boards, conservancy districts, sewage districts, park board, horsemen's association, drainage board along with handling criminal, family, probate and civil law in general. I do public defender work on Department of Child Service/Child in Need of Services cases. My diverse practice and the diverse background of my clients gives me a skill set and experience in dealing with complicated issues and giving voice to individuals that don't necessarily have the ability to on their own (i.e. children, incarcerated individuals, mentally disabled, etc.). As well, there are very few attorneys in the General Assembly, and that type of expertise is needed. It also is very helpful in being an effective legislator.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am very proud to say I was honored as the 2017 Mothers Against Drunk Driving legislator of the year award winner for a piece of legislation I passed with Sen. Eric Koch dealing with drunk driving offenses. Also, I am frequently asked by my colleagues to personally review bills, go over court cases, or to simply give input on bills because of my background. I serve on the House Judiciary committee, Courts and Criminal Code committee, Government and Regulatory Reform committee, and Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation. I will be seeking to be chairman of the Courts and Criminal Code committee next year due to the current chairman retiring after this session. I am humbled to be able to have served District 47, and hope for your support to continue serving the citizens of Johnson and Morgan Counties.
