No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be allowed until first breath.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The USA has a huge debt, and the USA's military should pull out of the middle east and Africa and let the people there fight amongst themselves. The terrorists keep attacking places in the west because places in the west keep attacking them. The USA's government should stop attacking them and worry about the issues in the USA such as the infrastructure issues and paying back the debt. I want to propose a constitutional amendment which would have the USA with a self defense force, which can only act in cases of the USA being attacked, or allies being attacked.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a utilitarian which, briefly, means that I want to work for the most amount of happiness for the most amount of people. Another side of that is that I want to work for the least amount of suffering for the most amount of people.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I have a proposal called CovingtonCare that is the best solution I have for the health care situation in the USA. States should have the right to decide their own health care solutions, and the states where a majority of the people want single payer health care at the federal level should be able to do so, while states where a majority of the people want a different system at the state level should be allowed to have their own systems. This is where CovingtonCare comes in. With CovingtonCare, the states where a majority of the people want to have a federal single payer system can opt-in to do so, and have the federal government work for them under their own system. Opt-out states can have their own systems and be reimbursed for their own health care systems at a fair rate. This system would repeal and replace Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Affordable Care Act (ACA, also called Obamacare).

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

It depends on the specific situation.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

Corporate tax rates should go down to a maximum of 15% at the federal level. I want to also push for having states and other local locations that want to tax their businesses more be able to do so comfortably, while states and other local locations that want to tax less can do so as well. For example if there is a city that wants to have great public transportation, they can have more room to raise corporate taxes in their cities to raise revenue. This then is a better symbiotic relationship between the companies and the city, since the companies can benefit from great public transportation. If people in rural areas with less public transportation want less taxes, they can have more room to do this as well for people who want that lifestyle. This kind of system is one main reason why I want federal taxes to overall go down, however I need to balance this with the need to pay back the federal debt.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

One way to bring down unemployment would be to legalize marijuana at the federal level and allow states who have legalized marijuana to work under their own laws. This would help to create more legal jobs. At the state level there should be affordable educational opportunities for people to get into in-demand jobs for the areas. If states have access to affordable health care, this can help entrepreneurs and small business owners who otherwise could have a very tough situation regarding health care expenses. If their health care is covered well enough, they can potentially get healthier quicker which can enable them to better focus on making their business succeed.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

As part of wanting to bring the government to a surplus budget, the federal government would stop getting money from social security to pay for other things. From there I would let the social security system continue to take in money to keep the social security system going.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Temple University Japan, which is an American university in Tokyo. I also spent a semester in Norway where I studied Scandinavian politics and Norwegian life and society.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Money needs to stay out of politics, and I plan to run this campaign with no donations from corporations, super PACs, etc. I plan to work to reform the federal system to work better for all people, whether they are poorer, middle class, or rich. All people deserve empathy and compassion, and I want to treat people as I would want to be treated. I follow a utilitarian philosophy in my policies which means I will work towards the most amount of happiness for the most amount of people in the best way I can. Please read the positions and proposals at www.covingtonforuscongress.com, where I want to make my positions easily searchable.
