The Founders created a system of limited government and checks and balanced because they knew the greatest protection of individual rights would not come from any single branch of government, but rather from each of the branches of government acting as a check on the other branches.

Judges should rely upon the text of statutes they are interpreting rather than uncodified legislative history.

Additional thoughts on survey questions: Q1- My response refers to the election of state court judges. Q4- Although the constitutional republican form of government established is not pure democracy, it is "the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens." Q7-I strongly believe that only U.S. law should apply in our courts.
