Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
If the life of the mother is at risk. I would also support in the case of rape.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
To prevent one person or one faction of the government from becoming too powerful or authoritative. It provides a checks and balances of the system.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Lutheran that attends one of two churches on most every Sunday. I am a decan at one of the churches and assist with communion several times during the year. I was baptized and confirmed in the small rural church. I occasionally attend the mens bible study and participate in other activities when I can.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I think we need to have stronger boarder security. I do not want to deny someone the opportunity to come to the United States, but they must adapt to the culture here and use English as the primary language and legally become a citizen. The United States needs to be a leader in world peace efforts. A strong military is and effective way to lead. We need to include as many nations as possible to assist in the effort with dollars and troops. I think the states should decide the social issues and the federal government should have less of a role in that area. The government should provide a climate for opportunity for businesses to grow and develop. It should watch for bad actors to protect vulnerable people and the environment, but not to hinder growth.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Unemployment in most areas seems to be at a very low rate. We still need to work on increasing the rate of pay for residents of rural areas and increase their quality of life. We can continue to work on infrastructure water, sewer, roads, bridges and broadband access so people can build new and high tech business oppurtunities
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
This is a tuff question that has many people rubbing their heads. I think it comes down to education and economics. Especially in the rural areas we need to do a good job of educating the adults and children about healthy eating habits. We need to develop urgent cares in our areas where doctors are in short supply to relieve pressure on our hospital emergency rooms and taxing their resources. We need to have an educated workforce to bring the better paying jobs to our area. This will help bring more insurance providers to our areas, many of our areas only have one choice. Health care pools can serve as an option for people with pre exisiting conditions.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government should promote a positive business environment by keeping taxes low and regulations to a need based on sound science.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I graduated from Wynford High School and The Ohio State University. I think my real qualifications come from 10 years of teaching at high school and 12 years in elected office. I have learned that everyone has an opinion, and you need to listen even when you dont agree. My time in the Ohio House were some of the most critical for budgeting amid a declining economy and an attack on our nation. We were able to balance the budgets and cut taxes in a relatively short period of time.
