Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion is the taking of innocent life. I have heard the argument it should be allowed in the case of rape, etc., but I fail to see where the taking of an innocent life will somehow mitigate or set right the incredible wrong committed by another human life in such an act.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Man is a fallen creature, hence his desire to play God, to aggregate power and become self-important and powerful. Absent Christ, this leads directly to the observation that absolute power corrupts absolutely and is the challenge in designing governments. The Founding Fathers tried to address this by the separation, delineation and limiting of powers, that man could enjoy the rights and liberty his Creator bequeathed to him, unhindered by power seeking elites.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, and I believe only faith in Jesus Christ can grant us salvat. However, the desire of man is to save himself, and thereby play God. But salvation cannot be earned, it can only be accepted. Only faith in Christ can free us, our own legalism and actions cannot. Faith in Christ will, over time, change our hearts. Judeo-Christian values are crucial to our country and our form of government. The 10 commandments form the moral base of the country. The Rule of law can only exist and persist as long as we have a relatively commonly accepted moral base and the laws reflect it, thereby engendering voluntarily compliance. Without voluntary compliance, we cannot continue to have the stability, freedom and liberty of the Rule of Law, we cannot enjoy our unalienable rights from God. I founded the Park Cities/Preston Hollow Leadership Forum in 2009 to do what I call "political education". Today we have over 1,200 members and approximately 700 of them are activists. I am running for this office because our elected representatives in Washington are no longer listening to the people who elected them. After nearly twenty years in office, my congressman Pete Sessions has become part of the problem. The national debt is at a record high, illegal immigration is out of control, and government has grown too large to perform even basic functions like maintaining our infrastructure and ensuring military readiness. Instead, entrenched establishment politicians like Pete Sessions refuse to take the lead on addressing our nation’s problems, rubber-stamping bills that simply reinforce the status quo while still claiming to be a "conservative". As the Chairman of the Rules Committee, Pete Sessions and the Speaker have funded every penny this out-of-control President has needed to enact his agenda. It's time to stop it.
