Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'm a conservative Christian who believes that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, who came and lived among us, was tortured and experienced a cruel death, but was raised from the dead. Our hope is eternal and our faith is based on our belief that a better and eternal life exists, once this natural life is over. I value life, family, faith in God, service to others that comes from understanding and learning how to be "servant leaders", our relationships with other people, and a responsibility to help those "who cannot help themselves". I am deeply indebted to our servicemen and servicewomen (active and retired) who have sacrificed so much so we can enjoy the freedoms that are protected by our constitution. I believe in personal responsibility and accountability. As a public servant, I believe in complete and total transparency in every aspect of governing.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
Abilene ISD School Board fro 9.5 years. Budgets have been "balanced" for most years, and actual results have produced surplus funds. The few years that the school board had to approve a small "deficit" budget, the actual results ended up favorable, and produced excess revenues over expenses. As Mayor of Ennis, Texas (1990-1991), we balanced our budget over two budget cycles.

Additional comment from candidate:
I am running for State Representative for the purpose of representing the rural, conservative values that I have learned by living and having been educated in West Texas. I am passionate about two things: keeping Texas strong by continuing the conservative policies of limited government, low tax structure, removal of excessive and burdensome regulations, and by continuing to provide excellent learning opportunities for our children and grandchildren in the public and higher education environments. My father (a builder and a carpenter) taught me growing up to "measure twice, and cut once"! I will always perform the due diligence necessary to become informed and educated while examining issues that affect all Texans, but particularly those who live, work, and play in State District 71, and will evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and functionality of proposed legislation with this in mind. It's alway better to plan ahead, and be smarter and wiser, before executing the plan.
