What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The Founders knew that power corrupts and those with power may seek to exploit their positions to their personal benefit. Therefore, no government body should exist without checks and balances to protect individual rights.

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
I served on the Knox County Board for 11 years. For 9 years, I was the Finance Chairman during which I cut spending and maintained a balanced budget. I was able to look at the previous budgets and see where money was misappropriated. This allowed me to make 5 percent across the board cuts. I did not have to raise taxes and was able to provide all the required services. I believe that government must live within its means just as individual households do. I am not and never will be a supporter of any unfunded mandates as this is just government overreach at the local level. This was a challenge I faced working on the county budget and was able to overcome.

Additional comment from candidate:
I'm running for the State Representative in the 74th district because Springfield is a financial nightmare. We need people who have the experience, knowledge, and ability to stand up against the Springfield politicians who want to raise taxes, create more regulation and spend more of taxpayers money. I'm not running to be part of the political class. I will support term limits and independently drawn election maps. Regardless of legislative action on term limits, I commit to serve no more than 3 terms nor will I take a state pension or the state insurance. Government is a service not a livelihood.
