18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My faith lies central in my life. I grew up in a Christian household and attended a Christian boarding school, where I served as the head acolyte and a sub deacon. I attended services typically 10 times a week voluntarily. As I prepared for war in Iraq I took time to participate in Bible study and gave my Marines the opportunity and encouragement to attend religious services. My faith sustained me in battle as it sustains me in life. I begin each day reading the Bible and my family ends every night saying prayers together. I am a member of St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Dallas. I began my journey with Christ there shortly after my birth. In Austin, I attend weekly Bible study to keep my legislative efforts grounded.
