OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.

Strongly Disagree

The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Strongly Agree

I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.

Strongly Disagree

I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

Strongly Agree

Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.

Strongly Agree

Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

In my personal opinion abortion should be allowed when the mother's life is in danger or peril. In the case of Rape and Incest if the pregnancy is detected within the first 12 weeks I believe abortion should be an option.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Our founding fathers were wise because they knew that human nature at its very core is unpredictable, unstable and at times counter productive to the greater good of mankind. In reading the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence it is clear that the framers wanted the power to remain with the people, however, they saw the need for a system of checks and balances to create long-term stability.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a God fearing Christian who believes in God and Jesus Christ. My values are based in tradition and an "old school" approach at life that emphasizes respect, manners, responsibility, hard work, dependability, honesty, truth, and integrity.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

My tenure in city government was highlighted by careful fiscal management that saw our city's general fund to grow from negative -$200,000 to a surplus of $2.3 million. Also, along with careful fiscal management came a very strong plan of action for prosperity. Some notable infrastructure projects include the construction of a brand new $21 million water treatment plant, a $2 million reconstruction of the city's sewer plant, the creation of the City's park system, the creation of a full service animal control, the construction of a $750,000 downtown ADA sidewalk project, the renovation/repaving of 90% of the City's streets, the restoration of the City's historical assets, revamping of the City's fire hydrant system that added 25 new hydrants, the expansion of the City's Fire & Police Dept., and the creation of a City Youth Services program to name a few. All these elements gave the community the spring board for economic growth.

Additional comment from candidate:

My background is highlighted by over a decade of volunteer work, fourteen years of public service as an elected official and a 24 year career as a small business owner & rancher. During such time I can state with pride that I have always maintained the highest level of integrity, honesty, and commitment to my communities. I have stated on many occasions that being a true public servant is not a job, rather, it is who you are at the core of your soul.
