"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." At the heart of the Founding Fathers' understanding was that man is sinful, and too much power would corrupt. They created a system of checks and balances to limit power, and crafted a Constitution to carefully outline and define those powers.

I hold a Bachelor Degree from Mississippi State University; I have been involved in the life insurance business for 30 years; I am a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher; for 16 years I served in the Mississippi State Senate; and I now represent North Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives.

I am an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS; I have worked with the Boy Scouts of America, Save-A-Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Salvation Army.
