Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Never. I am strongly pro-life. It is the first duty of the government to protect our God-given right to Life. Our son Anders was diagnosed with a terrible heart defect in the womb and we were offered an abortion. Instead doctors operated on his heart in utero and he is almost 11 years old today. We cannot imagine our lives without him. His life is worth no less than yours or mine. I'm running against Paul Workman, who voted to defeat the Schaeffer amendment that saves babies like our son Anders.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
We are all fallen from the Grace of God. The Founders understood man's nature and deliberately installed checks and balances without our system of government to safeguard against man's natural tendency to accrue and misuse governmental authority. It is our duty as patriots to guard those limits zealously and with the same care with which they were created by the Founders.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian but wasn't always a believer. I was raised in a broken home that did not know the Lord. I was saved in 1991 when I attended a youth revival. During high school I was on fire for Christ and even planned on the ministry. During my college years and my early twenties my walk with the Lord was not what it should have been. When my son Anders was diagnosed with a heart defect in the womb in 2006, Sally and my life was dramatically changed. We rediscovered our faith and have had a close walk with the Lord since then. My political life is an extension of my faith.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

I became politically active in high school and volunteered on several local Republican campaigns. I continued during my college years at The Citadel. After college I was hired by Sen. Phil Gramm as a staffer in Washington, D.C., then by the Bush for President campaign where I worked in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. I was a press secretary for U.S. Rep. John Sullivan from OK. I was a precinct chair for the Travis County Republican Party and started Austinites for Tax Relief, which helped defeat local bonds. I was president and regional coordinator for the Federalist Society while a law student. As president, I grew our St. Mary's chapter from a dozen members to over 200 in one year. Sally and I have been GOP donors for Republican candidates such as Ted Cruz, Roger Williams, Greg Abbott, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich for President, etc.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Economic growth. When people have more of the money they earn without government interference and taxation, they employ others. Government has no money of its own, it all comes from those of us who earn it. Less taxation and regulation frees people, and freedom opens opportunities. Opportunities lead to economic activity and greater employment opportunities. Taxation and regulation is by definition limiting to those opportunities.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Get government out of the business of healthcare as much as possible. The more government involvement in healthcare (or anything for that matter), the greater the cost, the less choice for consumers, and the greater the bureaucracies. Sally and I started a concierge medical practice called Luxe OB that takes a patient-centered approach free of the red tape of insurance middlemen. That is a growing model and one I hope will take hold for those who want a greater level of care. Our hope is that will show the way forward in healthcare.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Get as small as possible. When government gets out of the way, the economy flourishes because economic freedom kickstarts growth. I firmly oppose corporate handouts and governments picking winners and losers. I will fight for true free markets.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am no stranger to hard work and overcoming difficult odds. I attended The Citadel because I wanted to choose the path less traveled. I endured years of physical and mental strain. It was difficult but I overcame it and am stronger for it. When our son Anders was diagnosed with a heart defect and we were offered an abortion, we chose life instead. It was extremely difficult (and still is) with years of physical therapy, 5 open heart surgeries, feeding tubes, mental and financial distress, etc. (Not to mention accomplishing law school during this time.) It was difficult be we overcame it and are stronger for it. I have personally knocked on over 12,000 doors last campaign and this because when I believe in a cause I fight for it. It has been difficult but I am a better candidate for it.

I am serious about fighting for conservative public policy. I won't wilt under the enormous pressure the Austin lobby imposes on members. I am rooted in my faith and a clear-eyed understanding of our Founders' original vision for our country. I am ready to get to work.
