What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Americas' Founders believed in a government of the people, by the people and for the people. They also believed in freedom and liberty for the citizenry. Consequently, they ordained & established the Constitution of the United States to define and limit federal authority & power. Those powers not specifically granted to the Federal Government were retained by the States. Our founders separated federal power into 3 branches of government in order to prevent tyranny.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
The US Supreme Court has determined (Roe vs. Wade) that a woman has a constitutional right to an abortion; hence, I am obliged by my oath of office to support current Virginia law. I am opposed to abortion, but opposed to making it illegal.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Before answering this, I wish to state that I do not agree with the wording of your 13 questions (above). Photo ID is current VA law and I am obliged by my Oath of Office to support it. All of our freedoms are of equal importance and no one single freedom is our "most foundational freedom" - that's why I disagree. Foreign case law can be considered by US judges in reaching a verdict, but the US is under no mandate to accept foreign case law. Congress needs to overhaul Obamacare - "repeal" is a divisive word. The US Supreme Court has already ruled on same-sex marriage; I am obliged by my oath of office to support it. Public safety: Guns, knives, Mental Health, fists, poison, explosives and the like all need to be considered - I oppose a myopic focus on guns alone. I will support what works, after a thorough "lookback" analysis of existing law. Visit my website for details. My own beliefs can be summarized as "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
