OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.

Disagree

The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Agree

I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.

Strongly Disagree

I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

Agree

Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.

Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.

Strongly Agree

Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with public funds.

Strongly Agree

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

The United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies.

Strongly Agree

Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life of the mother is at stake.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

James Madison wrote that government is the greatest of all reflections on human nature: "...If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself."

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

From voting repeatedly to repeal Obamacare, to standing against bloated budgets that burden our children and grandchildren with more debt, to vigorously opposing executive encroachment on our Constitution, to standing up repeatedly for life, religious liberty and traditional marriage, to voting to bolster our military and provide for our veterans and service members, I have upheld our shared conservative principles that have made this country great and exceptional since its Founding.

Additional comment from candidate:

I have loved and lived in the Chicagoland my whole life. I grew up in Wheaton. My dad operated the Hultgren Funeral Home since 1976 and now my brother runs it with the same compassion that my Dad did all those years. My sister also lives in Illinois. My wife Christy and I are celebrating our 25th year of marriage and we have been blessed with four beautiful children. All four children have all been homeschooled during their younger years of education by Christy, a former public school teacher. I truly believe we can all agree on about 80% of the issues facing the nation. Building relationships and working on common goals help us address the other 20% without being divisive. Our country was founded on consent of the governed, and they demand their representatives work together to fix the deep issues facing our country. And I believe we can—the Constitution was written to protect our liberties and provide the ability of anyone to seize the opportunities before them.
