I believe that there are no better guidelines to living morally than the precepts in the New Testament, in which Jesus laid out the obligation that all men and women have to care about their fellow men and women, to be concerned above all about the poor and "the least among us," and to treat others as we would be treated. I believe that actions speak louder than words, and that one demonstrates the goodness of one's soul by the kind of life one leads and the degree to which concern for self is secondary to concern for the general welfare--a phrase not lightly put into our Constitution.
