What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders separated the power of government because mankind's basic nature drives him to pride and selfishness. The checks and balances of our Constitutional government help prevent the tyranny that could occur when too much power is placed in the hands of an individual or a small number of people.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

An unborn child's right to be born should have priority over a mother's right to convenience. I would prefer to limit abortion to cases when the mother's life is threatened, but I am sympathetic to those who would permit abortion for rape and incest.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and I am seeking public office to be a public servant, not to become a politician. I believe that God has revealed Himself to us through Jesus and the Bible. The Bible represents God's description of Himself and the relationship He desires with us. I value our rights as set forth in the constitutions of the United States and Virginia. For example, I promote defending the right of children to be born, the right of people to exercise their religious faith, the right to assemble and to maintain a free press, and the right to bear arms. It is also important that we protect people of faith from being coerced into participating in conduct that is opposed by their religious beliefs.
