What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
"Power corrupts" - the principle that the interests of an entrenched power class will become contrary to the interests of those being governed. The only way to keep government in check, and accountable to the people is to build in checks and balances into the structure of government itself, to ensure that no branch, especially the executive, does not turn into a monarchy / dictatorship.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
(1) A carefully considered medical decision that is a necessity for the health of the mother; (2) if the pregnancy is not viable; (3) cases of rape/incest. The decision should be made as early as possible - in the 1st trimester if possible.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Having been raised under the Communist, atheist regime of the Soviet Union, I did not have the opportunity of being brought up into a faith. I am Jewish - culturally, ethnically, by association. I am Jewish because the country of my birth made it painfully obvious to me from an early age that it was why I wouldn't have certain opportunities. I observe the high holy days, but don't consider myself religious.
