Ours is a constitutional republic, not a democracy (i.e., where two wolves and a sheep decide what is for dinner). Our Founders founded a republic, not a democracy. Man's nature includes a tendency to abuse power. The separation of powers decreases the likelihood too much power is concentrated in the hands of one person or oligarchs. The separation of powers is by design inefficient so that the processes of government are more deliberative and thus more prone to be just.

20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
There is a morally sound argument if the life of the mother is in immediate peril due to a medical condition for example. In the case of rape, the child is wholly innocent but pays the ultimate price with his or her life. There is a compelling emotional argument since a woman would be carrying to term a rapist's child, a profoundly troubling dilemma no matter the course chosen. Still, the child is not at all at fault but bears the burden 100% should an abortion be performed. The mother likewise is 100% innocent in the context of forcible rape and would likewise bear an incredible burden, but her burden is indisputably not as severe as that born by the aborted child. When confronted with two painful choices, the morally sound decision favors the child's life over the alternative. It is no doubt a very very difficult position to be in and good counsel and comfort from family, friends and trusted counselors is critical to weathering the situation in a just and moral way.
21. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God. Jesus Christ is my (and mankind's) saviour and the one who guides us on the path to God. I believe a person finds God on a personal level. No person, government, group or ideology can force anyone to believe. Rather, it is up to each person to find their way. I help guide my children to God, but ultimately it is their journey. This is the ultimate freedom. Worship is private. Matthew 6:6 is clear on the matter; God knows your heart and what you need before you ask, but public displays of excessive pretentious overt religious activity is offensive to God. Pride comes before the fall, and vanity and pride are not admirable traits. A Christian is forgiving, merciful, loving while being strong, courageous, resolute, committed and determined in the fight against evil. Strength, mercy, love, courage, justice. All can be forgiven in the proper context. Adherence to God's direction is an absolute to the best of our abilities and despite the earthly wrath.
